Newspaper Staff Enthusiastic reporters accumulated the gossip, sports statistics, and helpful hints to be published in the traditional Wayne Whispers . With Mr. Hedgepeth as advisor, the newspapers circulation flourished. Editor Marlene Smith and co-editor Bonnie Risley strived to make this year's paper the best in Wayne's history. Faro. Slanding: tl. Cone, Mrs. Updaw. A very active and ambitious program was carried on by the Vifayne Central Senior Band during H1956-57 under the direction of Mrs. Updaw. The officers for the band were jean Faro, Prc.tiflef2t.' Gordon X5C'aasdorp, Ifire-Pr'o.rizlwzf,' blames Tobin, Trem- zzrer: janet Cone, Serremr3'.' Julianne Cass, News Reporfer. Money raising projects to swell the uniform fund were the annual taffy sale and a concert given by the band of the Fredonia State Teachers University. The Junior Band and Dance Band also con- tributed to the music accomplishments of the year. The Wfayne Central Glee Club and junior High Chorus were under the direction of Miss Gullo who has worked exceedingly hard to give us an outstanding music department. They presented a spectular program at Christmas time entitled The Christmas Story which also revealed several of her brilliant soloists. 71
