N E Another school year with the three seasons has begun with a place for every activity. In fall, the highlight falls on the return to school and the meeting of old and new friends. The crisp Indian Summer weather begins and with it outdoor sports such as soccer. Band and chorus starts and soon the empty gym resounds with music. Gradually winter with its cold winds and inspiring scenery moves in. Except for the winter enthusiast, activities are confined indoors. Basketball becomes the main topic of conversation and the spirit of Christmas good-will pervades the air. After basketball and the winter holidays, a sudden change occurs. There is a yearning for the balmy outdoors, the thud of a ball being caught in a glove and the excitement of play. Highly contagious spring fever settles upon the students as they gaze dreamily out of the window. Then spring bursts into view and every- one stampedes for the freedom of the outdoors. Music festivals and other joyous outings are held. Everybody enjoys each season, but spring, as the forerunner of summer, is particularly pleasing. AUTUMN H zr Once more we journey back to school, meeting old friends, join ing activities, electing officers, playing soccer, and trying to settle down again. We eagerly look forward to a busy year and hope for the best. 1 I , . 2 . Q . aff' '21 ' M ., , S S? it LQ ' i . 4, x fx 5 Q x 'Q V . mx . , l 'V K f W f ,fsv . fy '-.. xi' I . ,J , ,. Armstrong U BPHI IIIP L Sometimes during the past years, it may have seemed to you that your efforts to educate our minds, train our bodies and cultivate our manners were in vain, and you must have despaired of achieving any worthwhile results. But we wish you to believe that we are not insensible to all that you have done for us. You have been interested in us person- ally, and your kindness and patience have made our lives very pleasant and our tasks less difficult. We shall look back to these years as the most enjoya- ble and interesting of our lives, and we shall look back to you as a sincere friend. UH IEE-PHI CIP L We wish to acknowledge you as one who lives for somethingg who writes his name in kindness, love and mercy on the hearts of hundreds of pupils with whom you have come in contact year after year. The Safety Patrol of Wayne Central still maintains its high standard of pro- tection for the students of the school. The members do their jobs capably and well, whether their duty is on buses, crosswalks, or in the cafeteria. They make sure that no child is endangered by the conduct of others and provide punish- ment for those disobeying the necessary rules. Led by Co-captains Bill Underhill and Carol Slocum, the Safety Patrol will continue to live up to its worthy stnnd- ards. 12 Back Row: W. Turcotte, F. VanDusen, A. Quick, C. Coomber, T. Marion, B. We had rehearsals for six weeks and the ambitious cast finally produced a play full of hilarious characters. A matinee was put on at Walworth and Ontario, also an evening performance at Ontario. Fol- lowing the play the cast went out to sup per and had a wonderful time. The Senior Play was one of the highlights for the Seniors of W.C.S. The proceeds of We Shook The Family Tree go for our jubi- lant trip no N.Y.C. 13 SE IUH PL Y Back Raw: Mrs. Colburn, B. Clark, A. Barmaster, S. Freer, J. Seen, J. Scbillaci, M. Blythe, M. Back Row: Mrs. Colburn , Advisor. P. H. . With twenty-two e er girls ready to learn homemaking, the Wayne Central FTB.A. planned many activities to keep them busy. They earned the undying gratitude of the soccer players in October when they staged a supper for them as a reward for a successful season. To add to their treasury, they sponsored a square dance after one of the home basketball ames. To further raise the level of their treasury, they hid a baked food sale in February. Many went home well satisfied by the tasty food baked by the F.ll.A. members. Future plans for the year were to attend a demonstration in April at the Rochester Gas 31 Electric Co., and to hold a picnic at the end of the year. They also plan to raise more money in an effort to send two members of the F.H.A. to camp. This camp is for the purpose of providing social contact and recreation for the irls and teachin them at the same time. Gladys Lucas Eolds the post 0? president. Jackie Benton became the new secretary and Jeannette Keymel became the treasurer. Mrs. Colburn, as advisor, helped them out of difficulties and taught them much about homemaking. 14 P. P. I-l. Under the able leadershi of Charlie Freer, the new F.F.A. President, the F.F.X. accomplished much in the way of planning and competin in activities. ln the F.F.A. elections, Ray Herold Became Vice-President, Karel Ambroz took over the duties of Treasurer and ,Ioan LaLonde became Secretary. The chapter kept itself busy this ear with their successful basketball team. They won the Western Division Championship and needed a win over their league rival, Clyde, for the County champion- ship. The year has been dotted with numerous activities such as a highly entertaining donkey basketball game, and a campaign to sell seeds. At the Horticulture Show in Rochester, the F.F.A. won three seconds and one fourth in the fruit and poultryjudging contests.Carl Slocum was victorious in the Speaking Contest and will try to re eat his success by winning first place in the County Speallcing Contest. One of the team's many accomplishments was the defeat of Wol- cott. We were the only team to beat them this year. Other exciting skirmishes were the battles with Williamson and the encounter with Sodus. This last game was played in a driving rain with the field under a sheet of water. Our team was the best defensive team in the league and was not far from the top in offense. This team will be hard to match in coming years at Wayne Central. 17 MANAGERS ond COACH C. Minnamong A. EDITOR:- Beverly Bulterman ADVISOR:- Mrs. Childs B USIN ESS MANAGER:- Charles Freer THE 1!151E!lBLE With the determination to produce a really fine year- book, the 1951 EAGLE STAFF' proceeded with plans to carry out this wish. Aided by Mrs. Childs and Mr. Chinelly who had previous experience in yearbook work, the staff laid their plans thoughtfully and care- fully. After innumerable conferences, we decided on what we liked and put together the body of the year- book. As each learned his job, we proceeded to do our best to fulfill our responsibilities and do our full share. Beverly Bulterman, as editor-in-chief, had the job of overseeing our work and making sure that the work was done correctly. We introduced two styles of yearbooks, one with hard covers and one with the finer added covers. With the aid of excellent printing and pEotography, this year's EAGLE became what we desired. We owe much to those who cooperated fully with us. 34 A new innovation to the school this year was the school paper put out by the Senior Class. Under the leadership of Jackie Bel, Jeannette Keymel, Nanc Melvin and Joyce Poulter, the paper was soon started? With the aid of many reporters news was collected and published. The whole Senior Class acted as news- hawks, comering the underclassmen, be ging them to buy our edition. But we prospered, ang put out our paper at various intervals. The paper itself had a gossip section, fashion page, sports, school news, personality glimpses and other sections properly be- longing in a paper. We hope by starting this paper that we've helped the future classes to be better able to publish one when they are Seniors. THE EAGLE SEHEAM5 Back Row: J. Bel, N. Melvin. Front Row: J. Keymel, J. ULLEYHALL Coach Bob Colbum's squad this year, with a few hold-overs from last season, expects to develop into a threat for the county title. With the determination to improve themselves and take the title, the boys are going all out in an effort to make up a good team. With the big men doing the spiking and the little men setting them up, the bo s should become one of the best teams in the league. They'l,l be participating in the Winter Carnival at Newark, and from there, they expect to go on to the sectionals. 46 UMBLEHS Lack of equipment, such as parallel bars and a horse, has imited the gymnastics team to tumbling.
