Summer ' s Pleasures ...they are gone like to visions every one And the cloudy days of autumn and winter cometh on I tried to call them back but unbidden they are gone Far away from heart and eye... -John Clare, ' Remembrances ' Everyone agrees that two and a half months is not enough time to recuperate from the stressful school year, catch up on sleep, acquire a tan, maintain a gruel- ing summer job, go on those family va- cations, and have fun; yet this summer WHS students did their best! Summer ' 88 brought the Red Sox winning streak, early stages of Election ' 88, the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit? , Car- away ' s delicatessen, and Domino ' s Pizza in Wayland. WHS students jour- neyed as far as Europe, the Caribbean, New Hampshire, Cape Cod, or as close as Great Woods and the town beach. De- spite the usual groaning that the summer was too boring, too hot, or too tiring, when September and fall preseason rolled around, everyone realized how great it had actually been! ■ The sophomore troupe: Lauren Rossman, Laura DeVoe, Katie Basch, and Naomi Greyser pose for future posterity. What do sophomores do during the summer? Apparently Rinda Wardle decides that while she ' s partying at Betsy Bennett ' s house, she ' ll grow flowers on her head. Take me out to the ball game! Karen Potochney, Laura Sunderland, and Rebecca Black watch the Red Sox continue their winning streak at Fenway Park. 6

Weekends Wayland in The Weekend: 2:40 Friday to 12:00 Sun- day. What would we do without it? After a week of homework, papers and killer calculus exams, the only thing students want to do is relax and enjoy themselves. During this time, people do everything possible from sleeping until noon to par- tying all night. Telephones ring off the 100k, and friends ask What ' s going ight? Most people spend the we going to the movies, hanging arou Christy ' s, or driving all over tow searching for something exciting to do. Without the weekend, Wayland students would probably all go insane! ■ Christy nirlil II nlin.
