or 27 years. Mr. Bibeau has been a part of Wayland High School. He has touched all who have met him in a very special way with his contagious smile and remarkable sense of humor. Perhaps his sense of humor stems from the fact that he has tasted many aspects of life. For five years during WWII. Mr. Bibeau served in the Southwest Pacific. Upon his return home in 1944, he attended Clark University where he received degrees in Biology and in Chemistry. He then went on to receive a masters degree in Bacteriology and Public Health from the University of Massachu- setts: and a second masters. an MS in Education at Worcester State College. Mr. Bibeau met his bride at the University of Massachusetts and was an expectant father upon his departure from Worcester State College. He then worked in a machine shop for three years while taking correspondence courses in Industrial Engineering. Mr. Bibeau worked at the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology for five years before coming to Wayland. ln 1958, Mr. Bibeau came to Wayland and has since been a valuable addition to Wayland High Always willing to lend a help- ing hand. Mr. Bibeau can be found with his students during or after school. Not only fame he help with Chemistry, but he also is 4 - Dedication there as a friend. One might coax him into watching the big game that afternoon, or perhaps interview him for a History project. Whatever the need, Mr. Bibeau is always there and willing to give it his best shot. ln the classroom, Mr. Bibeau's unique method of teaching proves to be very successful. This combination of his knowledge of Chemistry with his interesting and often funny stories has become a well known tradition even among those who have not known him as a teacher. Mr. Bibeau has also proved to be a very successful writer. He has published a series of multilevel, independant study courses in Chemistry through Addison-Wesley which have been selling throughout the country and abroad for many years. He also developed his own company, Allisande, an acronym for elements in the Periodic Table. Following his retirement, Mr. Bibeau hopes to continue in his writing and write about his war years and years of teaching at Wayland High School. We dedicate the 1986 Yearbook to Mr. Bibeau in appreciation of the many talents that he has shared with us all. The best of luck to you in your writing, Mr, Bibeau. We will treasure the memories you have given us for many years to come. fi? .4 -Wg 0'

Changing Times This is what we do to wrestlers who dont make the weight, ' says coach Lisa Shaw, Whitney Hyde, Robin Moyer. Fienberg smile at the camera. he most frequently asked question I have en- countered in this first year at Wayland High School is: What changes do you plan for the school? Any observer of educational systems today would have to note a remarkable interest in the entire question of planned change. Here in our school. where there is a change in leadership for the first time in fifteen years. it is no wonder that the question continues to be posed by the school community as a whole. After a significant period of stabi- lity and growth. people had con- 6 - Candlds fidence in the strength of the ex- isting structure and were ready to search for a change of pace which would build on the many strengths of Wayland High School in new and exciting ways. If your senior year felt different for you. it is because you and your school were ready for change. Change can only take place in a healthful organization where certain factors have been cultivated. People must agree on common goals and good communication lines must exist. Morale must be good and peoples' creativity needs to be Stephen Snell and Shari Lavin .1 ,ga-,ar .- I' encouraged and recognized. A famous social psychologist. Mathew B. Miles. wrote that all planned change efforts are deeply conditioned by the state of the systems in which they take place. I could not agree with him more! lf there have been changes at Wayland High School. and if more changes are to come. it is because students. faculty. parents and community members seek to move in new directions. A good change effort simply actualizes the potential of in- dividuals and unleashed talents. The only change to which I am committed. for myself, our staff and students, is the difference between what we are now and what we are capable of becom- ing. You are ready now to make more decisions and changes than ever before. Class of 1986, believe in yourselves and in your abilities and you will attain your goals. Your life is yours to shape and mold. do so with thought and care. - Dr. Sharon D. Hennessy Principal l t l 1 l T l
