The major change has been in the freshman program which now offers additional units of study on Africa and Latin America. A series of new books on non-western areas have been added to enrich the curri- culum. Another new feature, the senior program, once a series of quarterly electives is now a single full-year course. The Thomas Brennan ' -vw ff? Carl Corey Daniel FriO department sponsors many co- curricular activities. Included in this category have been the VFW Voice of Democracy Speech Contest, the WHS Close-Ups program in which students viewed the inner workings of the federal govern- ment, and the China Seminar, a follow-up to the exciting field trip to the Museum of Science China Exhibit. The business of pre-planning, writing, eval- uating, conferencing, rewrit- ing and editing for correctness before producing a final draft became a way of life for WHS students. The reading phase of the curriculum focused on draw- ing meaning from the literary text. The challenge for students was to discover insights into the nature and quality of the human experience. Among the most worthwhile experiences was the focus on world issues, an inter- Library Aidesi Barbara Manley. Carol Lucenta, Carole Parnell.
