Changing Times This is what we do to wrestlers who dont make the weight, ' says coach Lisa Shaw, Whitney Hyde, Robin Moyer. Fienberg smile at the camera. he most frequently asked question I have en- countered in this first year at Wayland High School is: What changes do you plan for the school? Any observer of educational systems today would have to note a remarkable interest in the entire question of planned change. Here in our school. where there is a change in leadership for the first time in fifteen years. it is no wonder that the question continues to be posed by the school community as a whole. After a significant period of stabi- lity and growth. people had con- 6 - Candlds fidence in the strength of the ex- isting structure and were ready to search for a change of pace which would build on the many strengths of Wayland High School in new and exciting ways. If your senior year felt different for you. it is because you and your school were ready for change. Change can only take place in a healthful organization where certain factors have been cultivated. People must agree on common goals and good communication lines must exist. Morale must be good and peoples' creativity needs to be Stephen Snell and Shari Lavin .1 ,ga-,ar .- I' encouraged and recognized. A famous social psychologist. Mathew B. Miles. wrote that all planned change efforts are deeply conditioned by the state of the systems in which they take place. I could not agree with him more! lf there have been changes at Wayland High School. and if more changes are to come. it is because students. faculty. parents and community members seek to move in new directions. A good change effort simply actualizes the potential of in- dividuals and unleashed talents. The only change to which I am committed. for myself, our staff and students, is the difference between what we are now and what we are capable of becom- ing. You are ready now to make more decisions and changes than ever before. Class of 1986, believe in yourselves and in your abilities and you will attain your goals. Your life is yours to shape and mold. do so with thought and care. - Dr. Sharon D. Hennessy Principal l t l 1 l T l
