Lindsey Wfe could list your help as our freshman advisor, or as our teacher in Social Studies 90, 100, and 110. Lists, however, have never seemed to us to be true pictures of people and what they have done. Wfe will be more likely to remember you for the incidental things, the impartiality, the time spent, the day-to-day concern. At this time, we might add that during six years of teaching at XVayland you have guided, directed. prodded and pushed more people in the right direction than we can count. For this, and as we have said, for innumerable other reasons, we want to express our admiration and extend our thanks to a dedicated teacher and a good friend - to you, Mr. Lindsey. dedication :N gt L5 25 3 , , '. + '1 .. . . , Q 1 A I l . These con- tests are taped and then played over WKOX Framingham radio at a later time. This year, under the guidance of coach Robert W. Bibeau, it has en- joyed a fairly successful series of com- petitions. After losing its first con- test to Weston, the team sprang back to win a stunning victory over Ash- land. This contest was most unusual because of a tie which was finally broken after three tie-breaker ques- tions. The final contest against Marl- boro was lost by only one question. J , f-.Zh moth 'reom This was the second year for XY ayland Highls young but growing math team. Top math students from all four classes, with Don Cassidy as captain, competed among themselves each month to represent the school in the monthly meets against nine teams from neighboring schools. Wayland played host to the other teams for the March contest. Topics for contest prob- lems encompassed high school math all the way from arithmetic to calculus, and were challenging to all con- testents. Wayland met stern competition, but finished the year with encouraging progress. Standing: K. Carrier, C. Morgan, Mr. Bibeau, G. Knox, A. Porter. Seated: E. Norris, J. Lucey. ea--. With fine team performances week after week the jV's were able to win over Westwood, Lynnfield, North Reading, and Ashland before bowing in a difficult contest to Bedford. Shaking off this defeat the team played its finest game of the year in defeating arch- rival VC'eston in the season finale. Though sparked by a number of individual performances, the key to success of the team was its fine overall spirit and cohesiveness. Typically, the scoring total was dis- tributed among seven different players. Way'land can look forward with optimism to 1963 and '64 when these sophomores will have the opportunity to add to their successful record as members of the varsity.
