Organized into small groups, and meeting after school hours, they were direc- ted by Mr. Dowitsch and Judy Allen. Valery Conley, Marlene Brooks, Carol VanScoter, Janice Zimmer, and Dorothy Gilman were elected from the group to lead the Junior Band in the annual Memorial Day parade. The safety patrol was organized by Mr. Mer- rill among boys in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. Two musical groups were organized for the first time this year in the elementary grades to give training in both vocal and instrumental music. 32 boys in the fifth and sixth grades formed an elementary boys chorus under the direction of Mrs. McLaughlin.
