Tall, straight and strong, these stately columns standf as symbols of Faith, Truth, Vision, Honor, Endeavor and Achievement. These columns are invitational symbols to venture the untraveled roads of learning and to explore like courageous pioneers all areas of knowledge. iv The straight and strong columns inspire. 'Wayland students to stand tall and to think straight under pressure. Aroundgthese upreaching columns many selfish ambitions have died and in their stead ?i1lfl'l.liSlllC desires to serve even unto the uttermost part of the world have been born. For nearly fifty years, the white columns have served as a landmark for Christian education, and whe-rever Wayland students go in the years ahead, they will remember with quiet pleasure the tall, straight columns silhouetted in White against a turquoise sky.
