The Minnesota conference champions were much too powerful and handed the young and inexperienced Redmen a 26-O defeat. The Redmen began conference play at home by trouncing Racine Lutheran, 32-6. Racine scored first, but the determined Wayland team fought back to lead at the half, l3-6. On the following Saturday, VVayland handed Milwaukee Lutheran a 6-O defeat in the final eight seconds of play. On October 9, Wayland defeated Northwestern Preps, 26-O for their third con- ference victory. Next we defeated Hartland High School 38-O in a non-conference battle. After a slow start, the Redmen defeated M.U.S. 14-6. The Redmen celebrated their Homecoming by defeating Milwaukee Country Dav, 20-19, to clinch at least a tie for the conference title. I Wavland traveled to Lake Forest for their final game, where they were defeated 25-14, by a fast and inspired Lake Forest eleven. Way'land thus ended one of the finest seasons in its history, winning the co-championship of the Midwest Prep Conference. Wayland was well represented on the all conference first team with Chuck Morgan and Fred Kapelleg second team, Dale Schoon, Colin Stetson, and Frank Hochholzer. 84 00- UIIAMPIO FO0TllALL TEAM
