W X 1 X, XA The festivities of VVayland's Cen- tennial Homecoming began Friday, October 29, with the erec- tion of effigies on various parts of the campus. Although the freshmen literally ran off with first prize in the effigies, the seniors turned the tables and carried away the highest honor in the class skits, which were presented Friday night. Following the drama, everyone gathered before the bonfire as Mr. Boya presented the first place football team in our conference. To begin Saturdays activities the girls hockey team displayed their ability in an uproaring tie game against Milwaukee Downer. In the afternoon, our boys, to counteract twenty-five years of football defeats by Milwaukee Country Day, fought hard to score a 20-19 victory. Eddie Howard furnished dance music for all the students, faculty, parents, and friends Saturday night. The court, led by Queen, Connie Zipprodt, was presented to the guests during an intermission. The victory football of the afternoon was given to Mr. Pickard. Mid-Sunday afternoon brought forth applause from hundreds of happy guests who attended the dedication of our newest building to Samual Pickard, Sr. This hap- piest event concluded what proved to be truly the happiest and most successful week- end the school has known. We sav . . . Here's to Waylancl, and her success in the years to come . . . may they be as prosperous as the last ones have been ....
