max TP' Illlzl 0F ll0Y Mr Tucker IS now tn hls elghth year as teacher and Dean of Boys at Wayland He has had many years of experrence hung IH prep schools both as a student and 1nstructor He attended preparatory school at Lake Forest Academy of l ake Forest lllmols and later re turned to the school and serxcd as an tnstructor for fifteen years serv mg also as asslstant headmaster Before commg to Wayland M Tucker was head of the l atm Department at Culver Mrlltary Academy Mr Tucker recened has Bachelors Degree from Prlnceton and dld hrs graduate work at Grenoble I-letdelberg the Sorbonne and the Amerlcan Academy at Rome He has traveled extensnely rn Europe Afrrca South Amerxca and the East In addltxon to servlng as Dean of Boys Mr Tucker IS head of the Latln Department and a member of the Athletlc Board Students wrll long remember Mr Tucker as Dean of Boys HIS excellent guldance and deep understandmg of boys make hrm one of the finest frlends the students haxe ASSISTA T IDEA 0F GIRL Mrs Plhlstrom came to Wayland m I945 after teachmg at the Army Atrforce Technologlcal School She recelved her Bachelor of Arts Degree from lawrence College and dnd graduate vsork at the Untxerslty of Colorado m Remedial Readlng later she completed work on her Masters Degree ln Gllld3HC9 at the Unnerstty of Wls consm During her ten years on the Wayland campus Mrs Pthlstrom has taught Remedlal Readxng and sexeral classes tn l'l'1gllSll For tht past two years she has fulfilled the posttlon of Dean of Currtculum whose duty rt IS to help select and schedule all courses Btsndes these dutles she IS also the Asststant Dem of Glrls at whuch she ts very pattent and understandmg to 1ll the gnrls Mrs Plhlstrom has become an tmportant membcr of our faculty Her helpfulness and enthusiasm havt made her popular wtth the stu dents and teachers 1l1ke 7

RAYMO IIA I'A'l l'llR 0 Pllll lllll 'I' ,M-v-v .rf ,S-4,7 xx Waylands Centennral year has been made even more successful by the rnsprred leadershrp of rts headmaster Mr Raymond A Patterson In hrs year of admrnrstratron the students and faculty have respected and admrred hrs capabrlrty and the hrgh standards set for Wayland Academy Mr Pattersons career began at Wayland when he entered school as a freshman rn 1936 Durrng hrs four years he was an actrve partrcrpant rn all actrvrtres He proved hrmself to be one of the best athletes rn the hrstory of the school wrnnrng letters rn football basketball and track Hrs hrgh jump record has not yet been broken After graduatron from Wayland rn 1940 Mr Patterson attended the Unrversrty of Wrsconsrn where he recerved hrs bachelor s and master s degrees rn educatron In 1944 he garned recognrtron as one of the most outstandrng basketball players to attend the unrversrty and was named to the All Amerrcan basketball team Mr Patterson returned to hrs alma mater rn 1948 as head basketball coach and scrence and brology rnstructor Durrng the succeeding years he spent a large amount of trme and effort rn the publrc relatrons and admrssrons de partments Not only rs Mr Patterson a member of the Wayland famrly, he rs also a well establrshed member of the communrty He rs a member of the Rotary, a deacon and trustee rn the Baptrst Church, a member of the Wrsconsrn Club. the Wrsconsrn Alumnae and Wrsconsrn Memorral Unron As Wayland moves rnto her second century of servrce, she looks back wrth satrsfactron and ahead wrth determrnatron to meet the challenge of the future Under the gurdance of Mr Patterson, we feel sure that the tradrtron and rdeals of Wayland wrll develop character and knowledge 6
