SENIOR Making their farewells as students and ioin- ing The ranks ofthe Alumni are fifteen members of the freshman class of 1950 who weathered the Latin as greenhorns Through The signifi- cance of History as Seniors. Starting as Freshmen we were led by George Maye Through a great first year. Who could ever forget The Ski Jump, or the Rouland show Good News? With Spring came The Com- mencement play, Boy Wanted, and again The Freshies stole The show. S We chose Dick Sterr to lead us Through our Sophomore year. Our first concern was Home- coming, and for our skit we pictured the Home- coming of 1951 through the eyes of the class of 2001. Later we presented the Snow Ball and then the Carnival. We again were well rep- resented in Rouland, This year's production being Oh Suzanna! This year, as well as the previous one, we swelled the ranks of the Honor Roll and every athletic team. ln addition to the class activities, the Hutchins house girls put on Chicago. For our Junior year we again chose George Maye to be our leader through this big year. For Vice President we elected Jim Burgess, Secretary, Mary Jensen, and Treasurer, Sukie Fisher. Early in the year we undertook the Tackle Turnabout, and later the Hayseed Hoedownf' Our really big project was the Junior Prom. We chose Evening in Paris as the theme. It hasn't come to an agreed decision as yet to whether it was more fun decorating the gym or CLASS actually dancing in all its glory to the heavenly music. Miss Porter and Commander Mayer de- serve our sincere thanks for their vital assistance and guidance through the year. Finally our dream of achieving the status of a Senior was reached. After four years for many of us, or three and two for The rest, it is a worth while goal. Our last year at Wayland was led by Jim Burgess with Dick Neuman, Vice President, Ticky Nason, Secretary, Dick Kimberly, Trea- surer. Sponsored by Mr. Mayer and Miss Browne our class capably handled its duties during the year. ln the Homecoming skit we acted out Drag- net and took second place for it. For our effigy we played on the fact that it was Hal- lowe'en and our opponent's colors were black and orange, and came up with They Don't Stand a Ghost of a Chance. This year for activities we staged Crazy Man Crazy, and let down our hair and danced to the latest rhythms. Next came the Highland Fling and the Scotch in us had its moment of glory. ln December we danced through the Candy Cane Cotillion. Rouland's Gay Nineties per- vaded the class and soon. afterwards our thoughts turned to a more serious aspect with Pomp and Circumstance. When all the farewells are said, we will still cherish the memories of some of The most wonderful years of our lives. Page Eighteen
