ever since. graduation from Wayland. place every two years. Mrs. Pihlstrom, a favorite among the students on campus, is teaching for her ninth year at Wayland. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lawrence College and did graduate work at the University of Colorado in Remedial Reading. Last spring she completed work on her Master's Degree at the Uni- versity of Wisconsin. Besides the regular teaching routine and conducting special courses in Remedial Reading, Mrs. Pihlstrom fulfills the position of Assistant Dean of Girls with a sense of understanding and friendship that the girls of Warren Hall appreciate. In addition to this, Mrs. Pihlstrom has undertaken the important iob of Dean of Studies, advising the students about schedules. She is respon- sible for the arrangement of the curriculum. Although she has many responsibilities, Mrs. Pihlstrom never fails to possess a spark of enthusiasm and a cheerful smile. the president. that he has had at Wayland Page Ten Mr. A. E. Wichman, Waylands historian toastmaster and Dean of Guidance, came to the Wayland campus in 1925 and has devoted himself to the students and faculty of Wayland Mr. Wichman obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Carrol College. Since then he has done graduate work at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Chicago Mr. Wichman was Dean of Boys from 1934 to 1942 At pre sent he is Dean of Curriculum and Guidance and Director of the history Department. He is also Dean of Vocational Guidance and helps many students decide what goal to strive for after Mr. Wichman has served as golf coach and recently coached his team to an undefeated season He is also a frequent speaker in chapel and his inspiring talks are an important part of our campus religious life. Mr. Wichman also is in charge of the Historical Field Trip to Washington D C which usually takes Mr. Wichman has become an important member of our faculty. His constant good humor and patient guidance have made him one of our most popular faculty members Mr. Simpson came to Wayland in 1944 from Nassau New York, where he worked for a fuel and oil company Previous to this he was graduated from Hightstown High School New Jersey, and later continued his studies at Duke University During his ten years at Wayland he has held the positions of Director of Public Relations Publicity Director and member of the administrative staff. In 1952 he became the assistant to Mr. Simpson has left for Kalamazoo College with Dr Hicks where he will continue his role as assistant to the president We wish him the same success and happiness at Kalamazoo
