ENSEMBLES 'JRYLAND has long been proud oi its musical groups, and the T945-T946 season in Roundy has been particularly good. The major group is the church choir, whose members are chosen lor quality of voice and general musical ability. The choir sings regularly at the Baptist Church and has presented several special programs . . . the V.W.C.A. Christmas pageant and the Good Friday service. The chapel choir, consisting ol girls vvho sing in the regular chapel services, provides anthems lor special occasions. Members oi the choir are trained to join the church choir. Mrs. Sam Siurua, director ol both choirs, deserves high commendation lor her Worl4 in training such excellent groups. Quinn Murphy, organist in the church and chapel, also merits praise. SENIOR SEXTETTE: Betty Grace Jannasch, Jaci Vander ILug5, Maxon Austin, Marion Mitchell, Jo Wilson, Laura Baddalcer, Bil ie 0 Fis er , LARGE Wayland group participated in the Beaver Dam Qratorical Society's presentation ol l-landelxs Messiah. lhe entire chorus, consisting ol over one hundred voices, sang in the First Lutheran Church. Mrs. Marvin Keil, lormer vocal teacher at Wayland directed the chorus. Miss Virginia Drake, a graduate ol Wayland, our ovvn Miss Marian Mitchell, and Mrs. Martha Siurua were among the excellent soloists ol the oratorio. Mrs. Stephen Roberts, head ol our Music Department, vvas the piano accompanist lor the occasion. The program was indeed an appropriate and pleasant way to usher in the Christmas Season.
