Robert Shure, Mary Whitfield, Barbara McCreedy Tl-IE FRESHMAN CLASS 7d !AVl.AlNlD,S nevvest and youngest class has entered into school llile and has dis- proved the old saying that all lreshmen are green. lhe lreshmen started their career at Wayland in a big way by sponsoring tvvo activities that shovved their ingenuity and cooperation as a class. Several ol their group have gone out lor all sports and many are members ol the other activity groups. The Carnival, held last lall, was the lirst social lunction sponsored by the class. Dancing was the main entertainment ol the evening, with lood and lortune telling as sidelines. ln the winter, the freshmen again out on a dance for the school. Early in the year the class chose Bob Shure as their president and Student Senate representative. l-le has led them capably through their lirst and hardest year. lVlary Whit- lield is carrying on the tradition ol the Whitlields as a student leader in the capacity ol vice-president. Barbara lVlcCreedy, another freshman living up to her lamily tradition at Wayland, vvas elected'secretary-treasurer. Cn the lollovving pages you will see the freshmen ol T945-1946, luture football, baslcetball, and matinee idols ol the Class ol 7949. lhe experience they have gained in athletics, music, scholarship and most ol all the experience ol becoming a true part ol Wayland will help mal4e a success ol their next three years here, lhey are certain to malte lasting contributions to the Wayland vvay ol lile.
