Today we will do our experiencing, Tomorrow we hope to solve , But there are certain parts of life We know we can't resolve . Today we still are searching, Tomorrow we hope to find, But we will never find an answer If we waste our time. Today we may feel happy, Tomorrow we may feel sad, But we can always get together And make each other glad . Today we may have worries, Tomorrow they'll wash away , But deep inside as you may know They'll bother you day by day. Today we may feel wrong, Tomorrow we may feel right, But we all have resolutions We go by day and night. Today we'll do our giving, Tomorrow we hope to receive, But giving you'll wish you never did If you get deceived. Today we search our inner souls, Tomorrow we hope to find , This is just a little review Of our place in time. Coach John Goodner came to our campus in the spring of 1976 and began to put together plans for the Indians. Coaches Johnny Cathey and Garey Horner remained with us from last year, and they were joined by a staff of new coaches. The entire coaching staff has gained the admiration and respect of both the Indian team and the student body. We look forward with anticipa- tion to the years ahead with this fine coaching staff as they work together with our teams to build the greatest Indian group ever. 4 Q I VARSITY TRIBE .. District 6AAA is without question one of the toughest districts in the state. The Indians played the 1976-'77 season without losing a single game at home. Our team lost one game during the first half of zone competition, and won the second half. As we prepared for the zone playoff, many people felt that if we could win that one game that we had a good chance of ending the season in Austin for a second consecutive year, but this year, that was not to be. We lost the zone play-off to Ennis, but all of us know that we had a very good year. Our team represented WHS and all Waxahachie with pride and integ- rity, and all of us are appreciative to the coaches and team for a fun and rewarding season. 5 32 30 I :kid X-ff -1 4-,Z -, -1--V, 5 Varsity Indians rv , i iw Scoreboard WAXA OPPONENT St. Johns N. Working on our high school's annual is a privilege and a lot of fun, but it is also many hours of hard and tedious work. Every single page of the annual begins as an idea in someone's mind and then goes through several correc- tions on the rough draft before pictures can be made and be put on copy paper. We don't always agree on what these pages should look like, and often compromise must come. The reward for our work is holding the 1977 CHIEF in our hands and having the satisfac- tion that though we have made errors that we have done our best and have tried to be fair with each individual and group. We have worked together, laughed together, learned together, AND eaten spaghetti together. This has been an experience we shall never forget! SPONSOR: Dr. Ron Hastings Although the S.S. is a new club this year, there has been a small but growing interest on campus ever since Dr. Ron Hastings brought the sport of Wargam- ing to WHS about five years ago. The games are usually historic battles recrea- ted in such a way that either side may win. The members say it's like chess, only it's not as limited as chess, there is more than one situation to deal with, and the element of chance is involved. Bat- tles are decided by rolling a die and checking the result on a table of odds. If you're wondering if all this gets compli- cated, don't worry, it does. The club strongly stresses that these games are non- violent. The club is open to people of all ages.
