crafts, sewing, bicycling, and Wat Has Teaching Taught You? To expect the unexpected. That I know so little. Teaching is by no means an easy job, but one of the most rewarding occupations a person can have. That there is good in each stu- dent. That loving ideals and living by them is all there is that is good and worthwhile in life. I have been made to understand the enormous responsibility of par- ents to instill the right attitude toward learning in their children. Teaching has taught me toler- ance, love of people, how to be one's self, how to make decisions, how to see both sides of a particular problem, and that teaching is truly a dedicated profession. To be tolerant of peop1e's mis- takes. That you learn more as a teacher than as a student. It has often made me question the WHY behind what I teach and caused me to open myself to chang- ing, new ideas. Too often I think we all tend to rely on what we were taught as being automatically the thing we need to pass on to others. When my students give good reasons for change, I listen. To take 1 day at a time, to not expect change overnight, and to keep my cool in a crisis. That you never stop learning. 24 WILLIAM LEWIS teaches Small Engine Repair and sponsors the club for that class. His hobbies are fish- ing, Deep Sea, and travel. Q.,- IRBY MARTIN teaches Band.
