Waverly School Summer Session July 1 - August 8l, 1952. For the first year in the history of the school, the Board of Trustees established and maintained a summer session at Waverlyi Classes ' were operated in grades from kindergartenthrough eighth. The expense of the session to be paid for by state funds available for average daily attendance for special day classes. Primary grades carried out their usual program, while the, inter- mediate and upper grades adopteda departmentalized type of program. These classes had the subjects of reading, arithmetic, spelling, language arts, arts and crafts, and physical education as a part of their program. Each class was given an opportunity to participate in a swimming pro- gram at Oak Park pool. The summer session faculty consisted of the following personszv Mr. Daseler . . . Principal Miss Salini . . . Mrs. Evans '. . . Kindergarten . . . First and Second Grades Mr. Ward .... Intermediate upper Mr. Rovetta . . . Intermediate upper Mr Whitt . . . Intermediate upper Mr. Morganti . . Intermediate upper Mr McCracken .... ..... P hysical Education Attendance to pre ss . reached the I91 mark on July 16, as this book was going Ten school districts were represented by students enrolled in the summer session. VGlenwood, Greenwood., Delphi, Calaveras, Davis, Montezuma, Lincoln, Madison, Stockton Unified, and Waverly were the schools listed. V The pictures that compose this summer session section were taken by the photography class under the direction of Mr. Whitt. Visiting teachers on our staff were Mr. Whitt-Jefferson school, Stockton Unified: MrsL Evans -Montezuma School Districtg and Mr. McCracken-coach at Victorville High School. ' In addition to our regular staff, the summer session co-operated with the College of the Pacific in helping to train student teachers. Mrs. Siegfried, Miss Anderson, and Miss Maw were the student teachers.
