A Journey Through Waverly High This is our school! We are proud to be a part of it! Bach little event added to the big moments makes our school life an industrious and happy one. We invite you to leaf through The Novel and take with us a journey through our school, a journey that we hope shows all the facets of life in Waverly High School from the classroom to the football field, from the organization meetings to scholarship tests, and from the beginning of the freshman year to the climax of the senior year.

Farewell Mr. Shelby received a B. S. degree from Wilmington College in 1916 when he was 19, and began his teaching career in a one-room school in Adams County where he taught for one year. He spent the next ten years in professional music, appearing in theaters and with such musical organizations as the San Antonio Symphony and the Houston Municipal Band. In 1927, Mr. Shelby arrived in Pike County where he was employed as the first full-time music instructor. In 1947 he accepted the position of director of music for the Waverly District Schools. Music became an avocation In 1954 when Mr. Shelby became principal of Waverly High School. He is a member of the O. E. A., N. E. A., Ohio Principals' Association and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. On June 30, Mr. Shelby will retire. He has guided the students of Waverly High School to fuller, richer, and more productive educational lives than would have been possible without his innate interest in his students. We, the students of Waverly High School, thank you, our principal, for the guidance you have given us. You have our sincerest and heartfelt best wishes for the best of luck In your future endeavors. Mr. Shelby, this is only farewell - not good-by!
