HISTORY Of the eighty-seven graduates in the Class of 1959, only a small group attended the VVaverly Schools for the entire twelve years. During the past few years, rapid changes have taken place in both the school and the community. The population of Waverly has become less static than in the past, and the school classes reflect that change. Those who have attended Waverly schools for twelve years have gained much from their association with students who have come in from other schools and whose varied backgrounds have contributed vastly to the success of the class. - 21 -

PROPHECY As I was walking down the Midway of the local carnival just after school graduation, I noticed a large sign advertising the skills of Madame Leene, the fortune teller. I decided to visit her to find out whether she could tell me of the future of my former classmates. Upon talking with her, I found that she would be able to do this for me. Madame Leene slowly performed all the little gestures and sayings that went with the actual story-telling. After all of the spells were set, she began to get the picture from her crystal ball. First thing to come into focus in the crystal ball was the scene of a wrestling ring. A ladies' tag-team match was about to start in which CRISSIE WORK, KATY WICKLINE, PHYLLIS BOGGS, and FLORINE MURRAY were the wrestlers. The referee for this glorious event was PHIL COLLINS. At ringside sat TOM Killer CRAIN, famous king of the mat. As the view of the wrestling arena faded away, Las Vegas came into sight, There the famous $ Restaurant was seen, owned by the notorious gangster gentlemen, MIKE MEEKER, RICHARD BURKITT, and DON MALOY. Inside the restaurant we saw the famous night club entertainer, MERRY DAWN Bloomer ODLE. Running around among the tables were the cigarette girls BECKY PATRICK, DONNA CRIST, and LORA SHEETS. Now Madame Leene related what she could see at the scene of the JOHN ROUFF Hospital. Up in room 2304 was BUD EYLAR, who had accidentally broken his leg while playing basketball for the University of Cincinnati. The nurses taking care of Bud were SUSIE PATTERSON, DONNA STREITENBERGER, and GENEVA SEELING. As the scene faded, it seemed to be time for Bud's bath, and I hope that the girls had good luck. The next scene was of a steam room where JOHN JONES, President of the Jones Bubble Gum Factory (Squish! Squish!) was taking a steam bath to lose his excess weight. He was reading a copy of Mad Magazine. As he opened the magazine to the first page, there was an editorial by TOM OYER. A few pages later, there was a story about STEVE SULLIVAN'S taking over Michelangelo's job of painting on the ceiling. Next was a view of a T.V, studio where the program Broken Arrow was being given. The new Cochise was RONNIE ANSARA. His pale face blood-brother was DAVE PALMER. By the way, JOE CHATTIN owns the arms that break the arrow. Cameramen on duty were DANIEL BELLAW, ELMER THOMPSON, and ROGER BENNETT. On a remote radio broadcast from the local drag-strip, LARRY BARKER was the announcer of the day’s timings. Some of the top drivers were TERRY TAYLOR, JAKE DYKE, ROGER CUCKLER, and SAM BUCY. The co-owner of the strip was PATTY KEMPER. The drivers always fill up with gas at LARRY ACORD and COKE FYFFE'S gas station. Madame Leene then showed me the scene of an immense pencil factory. The well-known owner (well-known to school kids) was ZUELLA COLEGROVE. Her right-hand helper was MARGARET BURDETT, who makes sure the erasers are on tight. The next scene was in the office of playboy executive SWANSON MOUNTS. Around his desk were his secretaries JO HICKMAN, LINDA MURRAY, SHELBY LEETH, and MARTHA KUHNER. He must have plenty of business to have all those secretaries! - 22 -
