I CLASS HISTORY One frne sunny day tn September 1945 as exerted stx year olds we came to school for our very frrst ttme Many of us were a lrttle bashful and afrard but wrth the help of our teachers Mrs Yaharaus and Mrs Brown we were soon makrng frlends and learmng the Three R s Durrng the next twelve years many of our frrst classmates moved away but some of the orrgrnal class are sull wrth us hey are Joyce Armbruster, Eddte Blaum Dav1d Butler Danny Cuckler Judy George Joyce Haynes Cec1J1a Hoffman Charles McK1m my Donald Murray Janet Newton Gordon Overman Dorxs Patterson Davrd Shrader Susan Smrth Mack Stewart Shrrley Stnetenberger and Prrscrlla Tewksberry Our grade school days passed by swlftly but we shall never forget those b1g mo ments the operettas our Thanksgtvung Program the Jumor Amerrcan Cmzen Club the softball and basketball games refereed by Mr Scott Jomlng the band and the prcmcs It was a thrrllmg moment when we entered Jumor htgh school For the frrst few days we were confused by the schedules bells new customs new classes and rooms but It Llldll t take us long to frnd our way Dxrmg those two years we had our own basketball team and cheerleaders In the erghth grade we took those dreaded erghth grade exams but all of us passed them Then we graduated from Jumor hlgh to hlgh school Many new students Jolned us ln our freshman year and even though many of them have srnce moved away we shall never forget them The really brg hlghllght of thxs year lx as the freshman party rn the grade school gym Durlng our sophomore year we began to Jorn more act1v1t1es Many of our class mates partlctpated rn the band chorus sports and scholarshlp teams In the Home commg Parade we took ftrst place wrth our float Then we entered the excrtrng Jumor year We publrshed the H1 LIICS received our class rrngs and agarn won frrst place 1n the Homecom1ng Parade We presented our play Head rn the Clouds and f1n1shed th1s exc1t1ng year by berng hosts to the sen rors wrth the Jumor Sen1or Banquet and Prom usrng the theme of Statrway to the Stars Then came that glortous year every student wa tts for SENIOR! Our Homecom Ing Queen was Joyce Haynes, wrth Lela Wrlltams as her senlor attendant We began workmg on the annual we gave dances after the ball games sold magazmes and took the Sen1or Scholarshlp tests At the t1me thrs hrstory 1S bemg wrrtten we have not yet completed our semor year We are plannrng a Sen1or Camrval whrch w1ll ard us to take a trtp to Wasnmgton D C After we return from th1s mp we w1ll gtve our class play be feted by the 3,141 at the Jumor Sen1or Banquet and Prom and f1n1sh the year wlth our Commencement exercrses It wrll be drffrcult to leave W H S and follov. the path whrch wrll lead us to our place tn the world but we wlll not be alone as long as we keep thrs thought rn mrnd THE ONLY REWARD OF VIRTUE IS VIIXTUE THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE A FRIElxD IS TO BE ONE 41 1 1 1 .
