Prophecy May 15, 1968 I received my invitation to a party given by Donna Booth, Waverly's top party giver. After an interval of fifteen years, she is planning a reunion of the class of 53 . The evening finally arrives, and I arrive early. No one is here yet. I'll just go in, sit down, and wait. The door-bell is ringing, and there are Ema Arnett, Sondra Smith, and Greta Davis, the movie actresses. Next come Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Dutcher, nee Madalyn Keechle. They own the two largest theaters in Waverly. The people are still coming, and, since I can't see them all, I'll walk around the room to see who is here. • On the stage is the orchestra—which is the finest in the country—composed of Johnny Baughn, Fred Edlemann, Janet Moats, Patty Schauseil, and Linda Blaum, who, I might add, is married to the director, Tom McFerren. Over there I see Lola Mae Noel who owns a chain of restaurants all over the U. S. There are a number of professional men here. Among them are Earl Knight and A1 Rhoads, the football players, and Gary Marhoover, professional baseball pitcher. Oh, myl there is the lover boy of the screen, Donald Diamond. With him is his wife, the former Nancy Daily. Upon the stage I see Nancy Redman, Virginia Newton, Ruthie Bandy, and Viola Trent getting ready to sing. There is Doris Kennard, the owner of an exclusive dress shop here in Waverly. With her are her three top models, Sylvia Hibben, Elouise Kitchen, and Pauline Elliott. I see the Dean of the University of Waverly, Fred Moore. Along with him are the professors, Ronald Evans, Jim Tackett, Reva Boylan, and Eleanor Gary. Eleanor teaches dramatic art at the university. Ruby Looney and Jerry Miller are the editors of the Waverly News of which I am a reporter. Ralph Guckenberger and Joe Wittkugle own a large service station in Waverly. The great comedian of television, Frank Ferguson, is also here. The owners of the exotic night club, The Owl , are here, William Stubbs and Keith Davis. With them is their manager, Lavada Cisco. A special feature of the club is The Blotter Spots Quartette , Don Brown, Fred Conkel, Dale McCoy, and Rodney Fultz. The mayor of Waverly, Leticia Stevens, is talking to her council, composed of Betty Snyder, William Branham, Marva Smith, and Virginia Ward. They are planning a new highway through Waverly under the engineering of Delano Beasley. Ina Lawson, owner of the Fifi Beauty Salon, is here. With her are her assistants, Thelma Woods, Martha Colburn, Violet Woods, and Edith Colley. I must leave the party now and get back to the paper and write this up. Jean Bauer
