CONNIE SHOPSHIRE BARBARA THOMPSON President Vice-President Secretary Treasurer Class History of 1952 Twelve years ago, our class started the long journey of obtaining a free public education. Of the class that started in the First Grade, twenty-four remain in the graduating class. They are as follows: Robert Andre, Helen Blakeman, Violet Carter, Joe Cofer, Billy Copley, David Daniel, Marlene Deacon, Bob Downing, Nancy George, Fred Hughes, Richard Kemper, Darwin Leather-wood, Joe Markham, Barbara Martin, Richard Murray, Timmy Rapp, Ronnie Ridenour, Richard Scott, Charles Smith, Everett Striet-enberger, Lorene Sword, Barbara Thompson, Martha Ward, and Ronald Whaley. During our first three years of school we learned to read, write, and do arithmetic. We also enjoyed going over to the candy store and spending our pennies. The next three years saw us organizing the Junior American Citizen Club, putting on plays and skits, and taking an art course. One of our big moments was when we were promoted to the Seventh Grade in the high school building. During the Junior High years we got adjusted to the different classes and bells. These years were climaxed by our Eighth Grade examination. On this test our class ranked high both in the county and state. Our Freshman and Sophomore years passed quickly but happily. In our Sopho- more year we ordered our class rings. The Junior year was our first big year. We published the Hi-Lites the second semester. We produced the play, Me and My Shadow , under the expert guidance of Mrs. Freshour, our Junior Class advisor. Last, but not least, we had our banquet with the Senior Class as our guests. Later in the evening we had our prom. Finally the day arrived—we were dignified Seniors! We worked diligently but with pleasure in all of our Senior activities. We published the Hi-Lites the first semester, had numerous dances, participated in various scholastic tests, produced the Senior Class play, and our biggest task of all—editing and publishing the Waverly Novel. But all good things must come to an end sometime. The Baccaulaureate Services and Graduation were the beginning of the end. These finished our beloved and cherished school days. We would like to express our gratefulness to all of our instructors who guided and taught us in our courses. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Miss Vallery, our Senior Class advisor, who was helpful and understanding in all of our problems and tasks. We would like to wish every success to the Class of 1953. Mr. Raidiger Mr. Arnett Prophecy It is the year of 1982 and a great number of the class of '52 is boarding a rocket ship developed by that eminent engineer, Dr. Fred Hughes. Our destination is Venus. Having reached the planet, we, assisted by the pilot and stewardess, Ronald Doll and Dorothy Hall, safely disembark. Donald Anglemeyer, who has already been living here for sometime, greets us and shows us to our new homes which have just been completed by the Murray and Smith Construction Company, owned and operated by Richard Murray and Wendell Smith. Later in the day, we are meeting at the Shining Lucifer, the luxurious summer resort of Gerald and Anna Mae Hines. Our chief entertainers are Ronnie Ridenour who directs the Jumping Jupiter Jazz Band, and the Merry Troubadours—Ronald Whaley, James Frey, Bill Hartley and Barbar Martin, the featured vocalist. As the music dies down, Bruce Lowery, acting M. C., introduces the various members of the class who have come to remain permanently on the planet. Joe Cofer, president of the Venus Atomic Corporation, tells of the newest discoveries in the uses of atomic energy. Shirley Stapleton is acting as his aide and secretary. Nancy George, also a member of the firm, is to be the chief advisor for cooking with their products. Richard Scott, very dignified and intelligent looking, has charge of the newly established Venus University. Among the faculty members are Joan Getz, Helen Blake-man, Everett Strietenberger, and Bob Downing. Lorene Sword, chic and charming, tells of her plans to set up the Mademoiselle Vanity Shop. She calls for her models, all former beauty queens, to give a demonstration of of her wares (wears). Joan Spence, Marlene Deacon, Violet Carter, and Joann Arrowood give a lovely treat as they appear in a preview of the latest fashions. The entertainment continues as two top comedians Joe Markham and Bill Copley give us a sample of their art. Dr. Ralph Strickland, and his staff of nurses—Louise Burdett, Belinda Cutlip, Betty Kritzwiser—are present to tell of the latest discoveries in the medical world. Vera Creech, our outstanding writer of modern times tells us of her latest novel, Adventures on Venus . To add to the program, Rev.
