Junior Class History Juniors EaRLY in the fall of 1929 the class, which is now the junior class of 1940, started to the Waverly Grade Schools under the supervision of Miss Gehres. In the fourth grade they presented the play, “The King Sneezes.” In the fifth grade they organized “The Sons and the Daughters of America” under the supervision of Mrs. Hoeckh. In high school they have been very active in sports, dramatics, and also in school work. In the freshman year they produced “Old Aunt Juresha” under the direction of Miss Kathryn Shy. In the sophomore year they produced “Miss Billy From Texas” under the direction of Mr. Bigony. Several students placed in the district elimination tests. In the junior year they produced “Nathan Hale” under the direction of Miss Shy. We are hoping that our junior class play will be a great success. Sophs History of Sophomore Class Our SOPHOMORE class of Waverly High is very aggressive. We have more straight A students in our class than in any other. Two of us are regular players on the varsity basketball team. Many are members of the band and Glee Club. Many hold scholastic records. Those remaining from the first grade are: Katherine Moore, Dave Way, Esther Mae Keiser, Earl Litterst, Charles Haynes, Jake Kalfs, Virginia Barch, Jane Ewing, George Armbruster, George Diley, Imogene Moore, Eileen Miller, Eugene Oyer. We sit quietly by and study while the juniors rush around upsetting everybody as they get ready for their class play, “The Fixer.” We are watching out of the corner of our eyes the seniors working madly on the yearbook. But just wait! Our day is coming! Donated By Pauline Oyer, Mary Way, Elizabeth Arnett
