GLIMPSES OF THE FACULTY 'O wad some power the giftie gie us To see oursels as ithers see us. 'Men may come and men may go But Faculties remain forever. Though some are quick and some are This august crew doth fail us never, From out of chaos into work They pushed us hard till we did jerk. A little man stood at the wheel, And guided things with vim and zeal. He is not tall and yet not small, Clevenger, who heads them all. He's full of tales -with morals tacked on. And always grins when we catch on. To do something new, and ever so great, He founded a team, with which, to debate. And thereby placed us on the map, For we did win, and leaped the gap. Next in line Miss Zichy stands- A kindly one, who thus commands, And all obey her with a mind, Because we like her. and her kind. Miss Brady was long on English stuff, So when the boys had quite enough They'd just do things, some cute but small Then to her desk, she would them call. To work in the sloughs of Despond and Despair Was to study Latin and Spanish with care, But with Miss Fish as a guiding star, We were led from them to heights afar. just ask the boys of athletic turn, Or the Senior girls, and those who learn Geometry, Civics and things galore, Who in their minds, they do adore. It's Nelson, Nelson, they all will say, The coach and teacher, the live long day. Van Dorn and Morrison are supposed to teach Handcraft- and History respectively each. But both chose one pupil on which to bestow The handcraft and dates out of school don't Although they are young and wise and dear, slow you 'Go ahead, says ouija, this is leap year. Cresswell and Physics are synonomous terms, Full of mystery, wanderings and old glass urns. Air brakes and Ford engines are hard to explain. But speed up, speed up and don't complain. If you put things down or take things up, She's sure to say. Don't break a cup. To have some well conducted fun We ask Mrs. Lennen with us to come, The Senior chaperon and class advisor. As instructor of English she makes us wiser. So we in our turn do just as she bids, For she is considerate of all us kids. An-d Mrs. Cramer with talents galore, Plans for our fun when work is o'er. At sewing and cooking she's right there. So nine rahs for Cramer so young and fair. Our music department is in charge Of one who trains both small and large, Mrs. Smith, we're proud of her name, just this year to Waverly came. Algebra, arithmetic and economics, too, Are taught by Miss Shannon, so line and so true. Although they are heavy in tone and in weight She's there every day from early till late. So with this group of instructors you see We had 'to be wise as we could beg No work half done was accepted at all. But things well done was the daily call. know. G. E. K. '20. IElevenJ
