ORCHESTRA Every Tuesday and Friday morning from 8:00 until 9:25, you can hear the or- chestra preparing for its appearances. The orchestra is a part of many programs throughout the yearg such as assemblies and class plays. The orchestra was a vital part of the first annual music festival on December 18. The Waverly High School band under its new director, Mr. Arthur Rae, re- presented Waverly in the finest tradition this year. The band began the football season with a recap of the Chicago trip for its first performance. It played for all the football games, both at home and away. This year the band also played for two college games, one at Cornell's Band Day and the other at the Ithaca-Alfred game which was played in our own stadium. After the football season, the band changed to a concert band and played at basketball games. It put on its annual winter and spring concerts and partici- pated in various festivals, including the county and state meetings in the late spring. 59
