Keep out of her way, boys! The Senior class of 1967 hereby wills its used erasers, pencil stubs, and ink cartridges to the Seniors of '68. Use them sparingly--the Seniors of '69 may need them, too! Qllzuaz- iaruphntg It is now 1987 and the Seniors of '67 have once again converged upon the hospitality of the Fin and Feather Lodge in Okla- home. It has been twenty years since this class has been together, and everyone is interested in seeing what their former classmates have been doing. As everyone starts to gather around we learn that: STEVE ALLEN is now one of those big cattle ranchers in Texas. He says he liked the cows, but the oil keeps getting in his way. SHIRLEY ANDERSON liked Home Ec. so well while she was in Waverly High that she decided to make that her career. She now runs the Sewing Center at Halls Summit, Kansas. GEORGE BARTHOL is now a confirmed bachelor on his ranch in Iowa. His only thought is chickens. LYLE BROWN now plays the Indian Tonto, on the new Lone Ranger series. It seems he had so much experience saying HOW in the Senior play, that the casting company grabbed him right up. SUE CALVERT is now the head cheerleader at the Golden Age Lodge in Burlington. She says cheering for ping-pong tournaments is a lot different from cheering for basketball. BILL CHERRY is now a radio announcer for station BLAB. His main job is doing commercials for his dad's car lot. DOUG COMBS had quite a bit of practice on the drums while in high school. He is now the leader of his own beatle-type group called Doug and his Bugs BETTY COOPER is now acook in one of the famous Howard Johnson's restaurants. Her specialty is Kentucky Fried Chicken. ROBERT FRANK is now half owner of the Community Hardware in Waverly. He gained a lot of experience there while in High School. MARLENE GIFFIN is a model for McCall's Magazine. She and Betsy McCall are rivals. GAYLE GIFFIN is now the owner of the Giffin Construction Company. He is the owner, but the former Jean Tyson, his wife is the boss. THELMA HAMILTON liked the Hondas so much while on the Senior Trip that she now works in one of their factories. She lifts the cycles off the assembly line. SUSAN HUGHES now has her own harvest crew in the summer, and her own kindergarten in the winter. It seems she did a lot of work at both while in Waverly. LINDA ISLE who is now Mrs. Bruce Kene, has her own column in the Waverly Gazette. It is entitled Linda's Love Line. SARA JENKINS went to college to find a fellow and came home with three prospects. See what a college education can do for you, girls? JOHNNY KANE now has a body and fender shop in Waverly. He had some experience with bent fenders and shot transmissions during high school. DAVID KUNKEL returned home to his alma mater to coach track. He participated in the winter olympic games and got second in the shop put, behind only Jim Thorne, formerly of Lebo. DONNIE MARSH upon graduation from electronics school, came to Waverly to assist Mr. Bowersox in the science department. If a blackout occurs, you know where it came from. DIANE MC DONALD is now a fashion designer in New York. Her specialty is dresses below the knee. CONNIE MICHAEL who could not quite make her dream as an airline hostess, has settled for second best. She is now the head porter on the Super Chief through Waverly. RONNIE REDDICK loved working out on the barbells so much while in high school, that he now has his own health bar and gym in Waverly. JERRY SMITH now has a farm not far from Waverly. His wife, the former Vicki Rickman, is helping him bring in the money: Vic- ki's beauty shop is on their back porch. LEE STEWART is now a heavy equipment operator and making good money. He has to make quite a bit as his wife, who used to be Deanna Linhart, thinks of more ways to spend it than he thought possible. SCOTT STUKEY whole childhood dream was to be a mortician, has ended up running heavy equipment also. Only he compromised with his dream: he digs graves with his bulldozer. MARY SUTTON did it. She finally learned how to ride a Honda. Now she and Thelma are thinking about joining partnership for the Heaven's Devils Club. DONNA TAYLOR is now the one and only driver of a yellow cab in Harris, Kansas. Her motto is, The customer, when you can find one, is always right. BETTY TOPPER liked Topeka so much she decided to become a permanent resident. She now has her own hat shop called Topper's Toppers. CONNIE WALLACE is now the secretary to the Principal of the Waverly School System. She got plenty of experience back in High School. Since we were all doing so well we decided we would meet again in 10 years to compare notes again. Their names were: Steve Allen, Shirley Anderson, George Barthol, Tom Bressie, Lyle Brown, Sue Calvert, Bill Cherry, Douglas Combs, Gayle Giffin, Marlene Giffin, Ronald Gutsch, Richard Grounds, Thelma Hamilton, Susan Hughes, Linda Isle, Sara Jenkins, John Kane, David Kunkel, Gary Lingo, Donald Marsh, Di-M16 MCDOHHICI, Connie Michael, Jerry Smith, Lee Stewart, Kent Stukey, Mary Sutton, Donna Taylor, Betty Topper, Dorothea Wakefield, and Connie Wallace. Our Freshman initiation was a first: we were given a party by the Seniors of 1964, At our first C1353 meeting we elected our officers for the year: President, Sue Calvert: Vice-President, Gayle Giffin: Secretary- Treasurer, Connie Michael: Reporter, Susan Hughes: Student Council, Diane McDonald and Douglas Combs. Our class sponsor was Mr. Forrest Kruschwitz. In otu' Sophomore year we lost four of our classmates: Tom Bressie, Richard Grounds, Gary Lingo, and Ronald Gutsch, but we gained Ronald Reddick. Our class officers were: President, Connie Michael: Vice-Presi- dent, Linda Isle: Secretary, Sue Calvert: Treasurer, Marlene Giffin: Reporter, Shirley Anderson: Student Coun- cil, Donna Taylor and Douglas Combs. Eight of our Sophomores served at the J unior-Senior prom this year. They were: Marlene Giffin, Jerry Smith, Dorothea Wakefield, Gayle Giffin, Connie Michael, George Barthol, Shirley Anderson, and Lee Stewart. Our Junior year we gained Betty Cooper and Robert Frank, but we lost Dorothea Wakefield. This year our sponsors were Mrs. Lynda Kistner and Mr. Forrest Kruschwitz. Our class officers for this year were: President, Sue Calvert: Vice-President, Connie Michael: Secretary, Connie Wallace: Treasurer, Donna Taylor: Reporter, Diane McDonald: Student Council, Marlene Giffin and Douglas Combs. We selected royal purple and white as our class colors, and white mums for our class flower. We decided our class motto would be, Not finished, just beginning. In our Junior year, one of our classmates, Shirley Anderson, was honored by receiving the Crisco award. This award is given for outstanding work in Home Economics. During this year we held a very successful magazine campaign, received our class rings, and presented our class play, The Boarding House Reach. One of the most exciting times of this year was the Junior-Senior prom. We presented Isle of Golden Dreams in honor of the Seniors of '66. We began our Senior year with twenty-eight students-fourteen girls and fourteen boys. Our class sponsors were Mrs. Pauline Speaks and Mr. Graham Kelley. Our officers were: President, Diane McDonald: Vice- President, Connie Wallace: Secretary, Shirley Anderson: Treasurer, Donna Taylor: Reporter, Susan Hughes: Student Council, Marlene Giffin and Lee Stewart. The editor of our yearbook, Diane McDonald, and the staff began work right away on our yearbook Bulldog Memories, 1967. Members of the Yearbook staff were: Assistant Editor, Susan Hughes: Business Manager, Douglas Combs: Assistant Business Manager, Donna Taylor: Feature Writer, Linda Isle: Music Editor, Marlene Giffin: Sports Editor, Lee Stewart: Typist, Shirley Anderson: Assistant Typist, Connie Michael: Photographers, Sue Calvert and David Kunkel. In the fall of this year we had our Senior pictures taken. Our Homecoming festivities were highlighted with Sue Calvert and Jerry Smith being crowned our 1967 Queen and King. Diane McDonald, Lee Stewart, Donna Taylor, and Gayle Giffin were the Senior attendants. In the spring we presented otu' Senior play, The Egg and I, which we felt was a success. On April 28, we were the honored guests of the Juniors at the Junior-Senior prom, Southern Enchantment. One day later we left bright and early on our Senior trip. We spent a very enjoyable time at the Fin and Feather Lodge near Gore, Oklahoma. On May 22, 1967, twenty-eight happy, but somewhat saddened, Seniors graduated from Waverly High School. We were ready for the world ahead, but we knew we had just concluded some of the most pleasant years of our lives.
