Lyle Welch was our Freshman sponsor. . During our Sophomore year we lost Maurice Moon and Laurence Jones. The follow- lng class officers were elected on September 10, 1954: President, Mac Borgna, Vice President, Mickey Pitts, Secretary and Treasurer, Douglas Pope, Reporter, Maurice Cullen, Student Council, Dale Hinderliter and Molly Phillips. We selected the white rose as our class flower and turquoise and white as our class colors at one of our meet- ings at the close of the year. Life is but a picture so paint it well, was chosen as our class motto. ln our bare feet we served at the Junior-Senior Banquet. Mr. Towner was our sponsor that year. As we climbed up the ladder of our high school days we reached our exciting Junior year. We elected the following officers at one of our first class meetings: President, Maurice Cullen, Vice President, Sue Fields, Secretary, Betty Johnson, Treasurer, Shirley Michael, Student Council, Mac Borgna and Ona Schmid. During the year we lost Maurice Cullen, Mickey Pitts, Evelyn Shelton, and Evelyn Cornwell. December 2, 1955 was the exciting night of our Junior Play under the supervision of our sponsors, we presented Man Alive to the public. ln February 1956 we received our class rings and were very proud to show them off. Later in the year with much work and imagination we, with the help of our sponsors, Mr. Bowersox and Mrs .. Foraker carried out the theme Candyland ' at our Junior-Senior Banquet for our honored guests the Seniors of '56, Upon reaching the fourth and final ring of our high school days we were sad but proud of our achievements through the last three years. Early in the school term we elected the following class officers: President, Sue Fields, Vice President, Molly Phillips, Secretary, Joan Gifford, Treasurer, Norma Vuncannon, Reporter, Shirley Michael, Student Council, Eldon Crouch and Ona Schmid. On September 19th we were in the height of our glory when we initiated the future class of 1960. With smil- ing faces we posed for the camera to take our Senior pictures which we finally received on Ngvember 16, 1956. We chose Diamond Jubilee as the name of our annual. The annual staff was then appointed and work was soon underway. On March 29, we pre- sented Hobgoblin House under the direction of Mrs. Haworth, which proved to be an h. entertaining evening for all. In the latter part of April we had our class picnic whic was enioyed by all. On May 2 we were the honored guests at the Junior-Senior Ban- - ' ' f d I' ' uet The theme Falryland Romance was beautifully carried out. Joan Gifford is now Dean of Women at the University of Kansas. Her loyalty for this school will make her a great success at her iob. Frances Steward is now in the slaughtering business at Halls Summit. It seems she has been interested in that type of iob every since that FATEFUL night. Ona Schmid is now working at Scotland Yards. It seems she was so good with the F. B. I . that England asked to borrow her. Shirley Michael was called for overseas duty the week after she graduated from Dear ole Waverly, She's getting a government pay check for lifting the moral of a certain G.l. I James Gordon is now living on a 1,000 acre farm WGST of WGVel'lY- He Und his wife, the former Ernestine Crouch, are raising kids--Goats--, you know. Betty Johnson now has half interest in the Twin Valley milk route. It seems she added another letter or two in her last name. Mac Borgna has now established a sign language school in Waverly for the benefit of students taking Chemistry under Professor Bowersox. He got his inspiration one day when he had to write a report for talking. It seems Homer McKinstry was the prosperous one of our class. He is now a multi- billionaire. His only complaint is that he is getting tired of laying around and doing nothing all day. Sue Fields who always had advise to offer to lovers now has her own column in a well known magazine. She took this job because it didnlt ask for any experience. Dale Hinderliter is now an assistant to Bob Collins the photographer. His working hours are 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. But knowing Dale he is working 7 days a week in hopes he will find this one and only dream. James Hess's motto was Live fast, Love hard and Die young, which was suddenly changed by Marilyn Baker. They are now happily married and have a quaint little family in Hessville. Douglas Pope is the ianitor of the new school. Doug wanted the tradition to stay in the family. He hopes Rick follows in his footsteps. Norma Vuncannon is now attending Ottawa University in hopes that it will help her decide between two subjects that puzzle her constantly. Molly Phillips who always seemed quite popular is now a confirmed old maid, living in Halls Summit raising cats. Eldon Crouch is now a Sergeant in the National Guards at Burlington. The Sergear and Mrs. Eldon Crouch formerly Shirley Johnson have a small National Guard of their own now. Edwin Lingo is now head instructor at the Arthur Murray Dancing School in Topeka. He always did have a knack for dancing with good looking girls. Eugenia Ice' has now reached the height of her ambition. She is now the secretary of Ramson Bennett, at Bennett's Creamery at Ottawa. Roy'Morey who had his singing abil-ity discovered when on the Senior Trip at Rock- away is now singing on the radio. He is Elvis Presley the second. I0 Ellgzz-, g ly F l iftfifv L+?
