Seniors Victorious 8-0 in Puff Game Who said the powder puff game was going to be all fun and laughs? The Senior class of ' 83 brought the phrase, Juniors — Dead Meat! to life on Oct. 10, 1982. The Junior gridders caught on to the toughness of the game, and the result was a hard-hitting, com- petitive hour of football. The Senior strategy of scoring early proved that they had more experience as they posted an 8 — victory. Senior Kelly Stites scored the only touchdown, with quarterback Jill Moden taking the ball on a bootleg for the two-point conver- sion. The game provided funds for a new sound system for the WHS gym. The game ended with Junior and Senior girls knowing they had a few sore muscles and lots of laughs to deal with on Monday morning. Congrats Seniors! 20 VICTORS — Bottom Row: T Schneider, Second Row: M. Menchaca. T. Robinson, T. Fraker, G. Tefft, D. Leupp, L. Fruth, S. Hartsell, S. Trejo, E. Hurst, Third Row: J. Moden, S. A Man Called • • Kevin? This year, WHS Thespian Troupe 827 decided to broaden their horizons and go a different route for the fall play. In September, Mr. Perry, director, announced that the rumors were true. The Thespians would be producing A MAN CALLED PETER in-the-round in the cafeteria. On November 16, 18, and 20, the theatre-in-the-round became a reality. The story of A MAN CALLED PETER is quite a simple one. It is of the Reverend Peter Mar- shall, his wife Catherine, and son Peter John, and the youth group from the New York Avenue Church where Peter was minister in Washington, D.C. While pastor of the church, Peter faced many problems in his family and church life. There are the dilemmas of the youth group members, like Susan Grant who is engaged but is afraid of marriage after seeing her parents ' for so many years. And there is Allan Talbot who is constantly hampered by his Aunt Judith Bickle. It is the same Judith Bickle who con- stantly criticizes Peter and builds unbearable pressures on him. And it is Judith Bickle who has restricted her sister Jesse in her spoken thoughts for many years. There is Senator James Knox Polk who fights Peter in Dr. Marshall ' s attempt to reform a young thief from the youth group. It is Sen. Polk who is arguing with Peter the night Dr. Marshall suffers his heart at- tack and it is Sen. Polk who ultimately nominates Peter as Chaplain of the United States Senate. There were nine students mak- ing their stage debut in the two regular and one dinner theatre performances. They and the ten veterans, the stage crew, Mr. Perry, Mrs. Schnitkey, and all the crews involved did a wonder- ful job. They all deserve a round of applause! CAST OF A MAN CALLED PETER Rev.
