I F1nally we have reached our goal graduation But before we leave good ol W H S forthe last t1me let s look back over the last SIX years Although h1gh school life d1ffered greatly from our grade school life as seventh graders we grad ually adapted ourselves to new responsibilrtres We began our new l1fe rn high school by becom part 1n activities Being older than seventh graders and younger than Freshmen we found ourselves 1n the m1ddle of things As the h1gh school bu11d1ng burned in October we spent the rest of the year running back and forth between the Memorial Auditonum and the annex We felt that the hardships we endured that year were really worth it for like all of the students we were very proud of our fme new building Being the mam spoke of the Iumor High as Freshmen we gave a Christmas party for them Our Student Council representatlves planned the program for a Halloween party When we were sophomores the neophytes of Sen1or H1gh we usually had to clean up after dances and parties However this was only fair as we gave two dances the Barn Dance and the 21 Lollypop Hop in order to raise money for the Iumor Sen1or Prom the next year As juniors we put out the best publ1cat1on on record the Bed and White At least we thought so We also presented the smash hit The Famrl Y Upstairs and sponsored the IHop for the ent1re sch l Th the beautiful prom we gave the Sen1ors Under the capable leadership of Richard Beav erson President Ioan Burkholder Vice President and Mary Hummon Secretary Treasurer w started our last year of high school We sponsored concessions at games dances and we put on two plays in order to raise money for our class g1ft the sc b ore oard at Harmon Fleld which IS also a gift of the Class of 1947 Members of our class have been active 1n athletics clubs and muslcal organizations We have partrcrpated 1n man Y scholarship tests and placed ten of our mem bers in th N e at1onal Honor Socrety Durxng the year we have been busy getting class r1ngs or der1ng 1nv1tat1ons and w1nd1ng up the affa1rs of our last year of h1gh school The day that we will receive our diplomas will be a happy one mdeed but at the sa t me 1me it will be a sad one for all of us 'di ,gyda e I UI' oa M! Although they didn't win all of their games, they still kept their spirit and poise. They started each night of practice with the idea of bettering themselves foremost in their minds, working hard and always trying to do their best. Theseason was begun by trimming Liberty 13 to O. The second game was another league game with us winning over Bryan 18 to 12. In the next game we came up against an extremely tough and undefeated Holland team, with the score ending 41 to O in their favor. The next two games were also defeats for us with Defiance beating us 39 to 7 and Swanton 12 to O. The boys didn't let this dampen their spirits, and the next league game was a victory over Montpelier with a 13 to 6 score. The next game we journeyed to Maumee and our Indians got scalped 47 to 13. Following this game Napoleon swamped us 35 to 14. At the end of the season, the traditional last game was held with Delta, with a decisive victory for them of 38 to O. They tied for second place in the league competition losing twice to a tough Napoleon team and once to the Bryan Bears. They were also seeded first in tournament competition, of which we were all very proud. The boys were noted for their good sportsmanship by the com- peting schools. They worked hard at practice night after night under the watchful eye of Coach Alloway to achieve a good record which was well deserved. Lowell Roth was their Captain this year and he did a swell job of helping to spark the boys along when the going got tough. The first ten is losing only two men this year and we are all looking forward with anticipation to another good season next year.
