This is Coach Gunderson's second year as boy's swim coach. The team hopes to improve on their 1-9 record from last year with the help of 6 returning lettermen: Seniors- Tom Gustafson, Steve Lamer 81 Dan Powell, Juniors- John Henry 8. Dan Moser and Soph.- Tim Romang. Dan Moser is our only diver and has been working very hard. He has a very good chance to represent West at the boy's State Swim Meet at Madisonin February. Time For A Splash' With 6 returning lettermen the West swim team had a successful season. Holding a record of 5-3 they placed 3rd in the St. Point Relay: took the City Meet and placed 5th in the Conference Meet. ln sectionals they placed 3rd out of 15 schools. Two girls went to state this year: Senior- Janine Dutton and Freshman Kim Walden. Beth Shandley was voted Most Valuable and Jennifer Zuelke Most Improved. sw -

Goals Yet To Be Scored The season started December 1, 1978 with a two game weekend against Eau Claire Memorial and Eau Claire North. The Eau Claire players stayed overnight with the Wausau East and West hockey members. Freshmen and sophomores dominated this years team with the loss of only two seniors. Next years team will prove to be a bit more experienced. Returning lettermen were Steve Brown, Gus Spooner, Mike Shandley, Eugene King, Craig Burgesen, Larry Spooner, Nick Lecher, and Dave Jones. This year's team was coached by Pete Susens with the help of Jeff Neuhauser and alumni players.
