'I'llI:' C1..Al.S'S OF '47 PROUDLY lJlilJlC.-1'l'lfS THIS WAIIISC-IN 0. L. ENSTAD T f' BA. St. Olaf, 1930 MA. Colzznlbiu, 1938 ,, -N35-ia I. Curling eutbnsiasl 2. Alf. Enxlad on Hobo Day 3. Our dedicatee al work? On the night of September 27, 1906, the peace of a small country home near Granite Falls, lNlinnesota, was broken by some first opinions on American Problems as squalled forth by the newly arrived 1947 XVAHISCAN dedicatee. During his youth, he spent much of his time in the home-workshop and was an ardent fan of baseball, although he also spent a good deal of time boasting about his father's new Model 'I' Ford. After graduating from high school in 1925, he went on to St. Olaf College where he received his B.A. degree. Wfhile at St. Olaf, he became president of the Mu Omega Society and was a member of the Seldome lnn Knightsf' a group that wore derbies, gave formal parties, and smoked big black cigars. He received his M.A. degree at Columbia and was president of Columbia's Minnesota Club. He has also spent three summers at the University of VC'isconsin, one of them as an assistant in the Department of Education. However, all of his time has not been taken up by the field of education. At one time, he led a school dance orchestra at Medford. He has been a reporter for both the Milwaukee journal and Sentinel, and at present he is a Scout Commissioner and a member of the Order of the Arrow. An ardent gardener, he has been raising gladioli for about nine years, and his fame as a candy maker is widespread among the faculty. He is an active curler, and his greatest ambition is to be a successful teacher. That ambition has already been fulfilled. To O. L. linstad, a pleasant, congenial, and ultra- considerate teacher who always has time for everyone, we the class of 1947 respectfully dedicate this 50th ANNIVERSARY EDITION of the XVAHISCAN. 9
