Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1984 volume:

MAWUSJC qjc Will Rogers stated I never met a man I didn't like and these words surely portray the thoughts of Manuel Gil. He liked every- one and everyone like him. He spent one school year with us and during that year he enriched our lives by sharing with us our customs as well as those of his country. To us he was more than just another face in the crowd and we will remember the year we shared with him. Manuel; the students and faculty of Wausa High School wish you the best of Luck for the future. Manuel came to us as an exchange stu- dent from Madrid, Spain. His purpose in coming to Wausa was to learn more of our customs and language and to meet people and make new friends. His future plans are to return to Spain and study Law at one of the Universities of Madrid. 3 to tW oAV TeacWr aod aTjcUaTs - y€ac eoSvec c I caw € Q vjjaS y Ware} Cm A 'OjjA v W ta? p SVo a carver. Everyone searched through closets and trunks to find (dad or grandfathers) old military uniforms for Tuesday. We had all sorts of uniforms, old and new: Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. The most colorful day had to be Wednesday. Everyone went punk not to mention crazy!! From pink to blue hair to hurt me-shoes, we had it all!! Another fun day was Thursday when everyone came dressed in togas. Friday was the big day and everyone came dressed at his or her best. Everyone was either dressed up or wearing purple and gold. Although Friday was a cold and dreary day our spirit came shining through. But then with a cheerleader like Mr. Wecker, how could we go wrong. HOMSeOMWG S3 JOKSVSK SZAKZS ZOfflQMZ The fog and rain put no damper on Homecoming 83 as the Vikings defeated the Wynot Blue Devils 41-21. Theme for the evening was Forever Starts Tonight and was car- ried forward by the singing of Total Eclipse Of The Heart by Teresa Young and Guy Anderson. The Coronation; Em- ceed by Jodene Finck and Otto Woockman; presented the Royalty as pictured above left to right: Freshmen Corey Jensen and Danita Vanness, Juniors Ken Gillilan and Lisa Anderson, Crown Bearer Wesley Beadke, King Rob Beng- ston. Queen Megan Creutz, Crown Bearer Nichole Suhr, Seniors Tod Lundberg and Chris Kephart, and Sophomores Doug Munter and Patty Wrick. Shrieks in the Night! Mice in the cellar! Bats in the belfry! Fangwater!??? What do you do with an eccentric old oat? Seems like tne Carpathian Mountains will never be the same. And neither will Wausa High; since the musical production of Young Dracula! We had the talent from singing eypsies to a howling werewolf. And of course we had fun. The two nights of horror at Wausa High School will always be looked back on as two nights of laughs. The musical was produced by Mr. Jack Waite and directed by Mr. Keith Byrkit. Student director and accompanist was Jodene Finck. A win over Laurel and a loss to state rated number 1 Emerson, the Vikes were set up for a 41-12 homecoming win over Wynot. In the season finale, the Vikes led Bloomfield with only 40 seconds left in the game only to see the Bees break a 50-yard run and score the next play.
