Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1983 volume:

In Memory Of Warren Kristensen Always a smile, never a frown, Always a hand when someone was down; Happiness you gave to everyone you knew. No better things could anyone do. Your presence brought joy to everyone’s heart. Laughter and cheerfulness right from the start. God gave us a gift, then took it away, But your beautiful memory is here to stay. The blow is hard, the shock severe. We little thought your death so near, And only those who have lost can tell The pain of parting without farewell. Author- Unknown To a classmate who was always more than a classmate. He was like our brother. MICHAEL VONN ANDERSON Choir 1.2,3.4 Swing Ch 2.3.4. Boys Glee 2.3 Madrigal 3.4. Soloist 3. Jodi Gillilan, will my ability to blush to Patty Wrick in hopes that she will blush a deeper red than 1 did. I, Jane Hoppe, will my ability to whistle with my fingers to Chris Kephart in hopes she can finally get a guy’s attention without telling her intelligent jokes. I, Kathy Young, will my hair-cutting ability to Lisa An- derson so she won’t have to come to Yankton every three weeks. With The Light Of Today We Will Explore The Path Of Tomorrow. Junior Class Activities Thi years County Government participants: Back L to R; Marc Gill- ian, Don Rodgers, Rob Bengston, Otto Woockman, Kirk Otteman, Dave Fink, Todd Barger, Tod Lundberg. Front L to R; Chris Kephart. Megan Creutz, Jodene Finck, Linnea Folck, Sondra Mainquist. We the Juniors launched our 1982-83 school year with twenty-seven members. And what a year! Soon we were involved in a whirlwind of activities that naturally accompa- ny the Junior year. With Class Play, County Government Day, and Prom how did we ever find time to study? To us this will always be the year of dressing up western, putting on make-up (even if some of us didn’t like it), and doing our best to impress the Seniors with Prom. Yes, this was OUR year! Maybe the best ever! But then, wait till you see us next year! ANDREW TIME CENTER JUNIORS . . . JUNIORS . . . No, but Fif- ties Day brought out the Duck- tails and Bobbie socks once again. Some of us spent all day trying to figure out who was be- hind those Foster Grants. Look out Charlie’s Angels! The Freshmen Boys of Wausa High are out to show you just who has the beauty. Not to mention the poise and sexy walks. These Freshmen boys were Sen- ior’s slaves for a day and were to dress in their master’s own de- sign. Each person represented a winning slogan in getting in the spirit of things. Now these girls know All the latest styles! Freshmen being slaves for the Seniors gave Spirit Week some- thing extra this year. One never did know what he would see for cos- tume design. Some of the ideas were rather unique to say the least. The Seniors made a contest of dressing up the Freshmen and gave awards to the winners. Creativity awards went to Tim Johnson for most sexy legs, masters Tracy Wil- beck and Todd Carlson. Most origi- nal to Jane Bengston, master Jane Hoppe. MR. The two even- ing performances gave the audience a little of everything including History, Comedy, Action, and of course Love. The main characters were Tracy Wilbeck as Anne Oakley, Mike Anderson as Frank Butler, Kathy Young as Dolly Tate, Dave Olson as Charlie Davenport, Joel Hoyt as Col. PULL SHOOT HIT “THERE’S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS” SO THIS IS BLISS The Senior Class Play, “So This Is Bliss” turned out to be anything but bliss. Deck, Randy W., who wanted to marry and run the family gas station, found that life can be very hectic and frustrating, as his friends and family put many abnormal pressures of life upon him. The bliss was further limited by bad weather, illness during rehearsals and by two performances being postponed due to bad weather. The bliss may have been when the curtain closed after the curtain call. Cast and crew members were as follows: Dave Wamberg, Deb Johnson, Tracy Wilbeck, Randy Wolfgram, Kathy Young, Jane Hoppe, Todd Carlson, John Barnes, Mike Anderson, Jodi Gillilan, Dave Olson, Beth Wrick, Kathryn Kumm, Josette Swanson, Roger Muller, Steve Finn, Carol Rosberg, Sherry Koehler, Marilyn Kleinschmit, and Chris Landholm. Then I smile as 1 realize how, the years havn’t passed me by. Still, I feel a part of me is going, as we wander through life’s doors. The only advantage 1 have is knowing, good times, there will always be more. I look around on this final day, of being together once again. I have so many things to say. Thanks for being my friend. The speaker says his final good-bye. and everyone gets a big smile. I give myself a silent sigh, th iarc vorlwnadjHMvorthwhil People shake my hand as the line goes by, and the end comes finally near. I see a tear in my parent’s eye, as they cry a lonesome tear. 1 give them a hug and 1 say what I cam, they look at me so sad. Thanks for lending me your helping hand, and remember the good times we’ve had. I look and see my classmates in line, and the old school standing still. The memories will always be mine, I’ll keep in touch. Really I Will!
