IN DEDICATION TO JEFF NELSON We the Senior Class of 1982 would like to dedicate this annual to our former classmate and great friend, Jeffrey Alan Nelson. THE LOAN OF A CHILD “I’ll give you for a little time, a child of mine.” He said. “For you to love the while he lives and mourn for when he’s dead. It may be six or seven years twenty-two or three But will you till I call him back, take care of him for me?” “Now I can’t promise he will stay, Since all from earth return, But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I’ve looked this wide world over In search of teachers true And of the throngs that crowd life’s lane, I have selected you. Now will you give him all your love Not think the labor vain, Not hate me when I come to call And take him back again?” I fancied that I heard them say, “Dear Lord, Thy Will be done.” For all the joy the child will bring The risk of grief we’ll run, We’ll shelter him with tenderness And should his stay be brief We’ll have his loving memories As solace for our grief. And should the Angels call for him Much sooner than We’ve planned We’ll brace the bitter grief that comes And try to understand.” — Author Unknown Jeff was born March 30, 1964, and passed away January 29, 1982. He was an outstanding athlete, musician and student. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
