Stage Band 3-4, Marching Band 1- 2-3-4, Musical 3. “I’d be good, but it’s such a strain.” CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1979. 36 frightened freshmen entered the halls of Wausa High School. They were: Ruth Albrecht. Ned Blanken- ship, Mark Carlson, Steve Claussen, Jane Dittmer. Steve Doerr, Brian Eckstrom, Cindy Fink. Jill Halleen. Michelle Hamm, Jim Hoyt, Denise Hult, Denise Johnson. Lee Johnson. John Kleinschmit. Karen Kristensen. Brian Lackas. Tami Leisy, Kathy Lurz. Tyler Mainquist, Cynthia McQuay, Jeff Nelson, Boyd Ober, Veronique Ogden, Shauna Olson, Paula Riley, Byron Roland. Marvin Rosberg, Doug Tangeman, Mi chelle Thorell, Tracy True, Robbin Tucker. Danny Wachter. Diane Wachter, Kim Wrhaley, John Wiegert. We elected Ned B. as our pres.. Tyler M., v. pres.; Jill H.. sec.; and Ruth A., treas. Robbin T.. and Boyd 0. were class representatives on the student council. Cheering for the freshmen class were Ruth A. and Jill H. Letter winners our freshman year were Ned B.. Jim H.. Jeff N., Shauna O.. Jane D., Tracy T.. Karen K., Boyd 0.. Doug and Ruth A. Miss Arent and Mr. Ankeny lead our class as sponsors. During the year Jill H., Tami L., Byron R., and Kathy L. left our school. Returning the next fall were 32 eager sophomores. Elected to rule over us were: Pres.. Ned B.; V. Pres.. Boyd O.; Sec.. Robbin T.; Treas.. Tyler M, St. Council Rep., Cindy K. Brian L. Cheerleaders were Karen K Paula R., and Ruth A. Joining last year’s lettermen were: Brian I... Tyler M.. and Michelle H. Homecoming attendants were Ned B. and Cindy F. Once again Miss Arent and Mr. Ankeny were our sponsors. In 1981, 33 rowdy juniors were once again wandering the halls. During the summer Brad Rogers joined our class. Elected as officer were Robbin T , pres.; Boyd 0., v. pres.; Michelle H.. sec.; and Jeff N.. treas. Serving as representatives for St. Council were Cynthia M and Steve D. Our cheerleaders that year were Karen K and Paula R. Lettering their junior year were Cindy F . and Veronique O. Chosen as homecoming attendants were Ned B. and Cindy F. Our class presented the musical ’ Lil Abner under the direction of Mr Waite, Miss Lewis and Mr. Byrkit. We honored the seniors at prom on May 1. The theme was This One s for V ou. Helping us with this event and throughout the year were Miss Skala and Mr. Byrkit. Returning once more to grace the halls of W.H.S. were 33 anxious seniors. Officers included Boyd O , pres.; Tyler M., v. pres.; Ned B sec.; Doug T.. treas. Student council representatives were Cynthia M. and Stave D. Cheering their last year were Cindy h and Ruth A. Denise J. and Michelle T. lettered as seniors. Senior royalty for homecoming were Ned B King Boyd O., Cynthia M., and Queen Cindv F. Class sponsors were Mr. Rogers and Mr. Wamberg. The seniors presented the play Hillbilly W eddin on April 2 under the direction of Mr. I.undberg. The seniors decided to take April 28 off from school and travel to Omaha for a fun filled day. We were guests of honor at the Jr.-Sr. Prom on May 7. On January 29 the seniors experienced the loss of one of our classmates, Jeff Nelson. Baccalaureate was held on May 9 and Commencement Exercises on May 16. (
