Coach Hageman became a 100 game winner with a 69-59 victory at Plainview on February 6. The team was once again runner-up in the Clark Division ot the Lewis and Clark Conference. The high points of the season include the Championship of the Coleridge Invitational and a 8 rating in state. The untimate was the victory over 2 rated Bloomfield in the Knox County Finals. This victory brought the county hard- ware home to Wausa for the first time in 10 years. The team was led by first team All-Conference players Jeff Nelson and Ned Blankenship. Jeff Nelson received honorable mention All-State. Much of the success the team achieved is due to the great spirit and support of the cheerleaders and fans. May 1. 1981. at the Band- quet and Prom which was held in the Community Audi- torium The theme '‘This One's For You was carried out through a park scene of pastel colors Boyd Oder, president of the junior class gave the welcome ad- dress Mike Erickson, senior class president, gave the response and Mr Rogers gave the faculty response Marvin Rosberg sang ‘ This One's For You and Steven Doerr gave the prayer Doug Tangeman served as toastmaster The following members of the sophomore class. This year's Senior Class Play was called Rest Assured by Donald Payton It was presented on March 27. 1981 The story takes place in the home of the wealthy Mohocks The whole story revolves around Mr Mohock, a stubborn old man. who cares only for money and who won't let his daughter marry her boyfriend because he's too poor Mr Mohock is harrassed constantly by the ghost of Luigi Lan- coni. Joe's dad after having a scuffle with him After taking too many sleeping piHs. Mr Mohock finds himself dead and fmds out exactly what everyone thinks of him After meet- ing Lucifer, he finds that the only thing he has is red marks and he didn't make the grade, so he's gong the other way if he doesn't change The play ends with Mr Mohock wakmg up and finding it all had been a dream and con- senting to Ns daughter's weddmg plans They play was directed by Mr Lundberg Above Left Lucifer and Mrs Schmaltz try to persuade Mr Mohock to go down or elsel Middle Left Jessica getting herself into condition Dr Brown attempts to move in on the now widowed Mrs Mohock Bottom Left Mrs Schmaltz and Lucifer are marching on down while Martha and Lixgi attempt to change Mr Mohock's mind about the wedding Miss Akers explains the financial losses of the day Bottom Right Mary. Mss Akers, and Mrs Mohock try to revive Mildred after she faints Middle Right Luigi contnues to try to change Mr Mohock's mind about the wedding Joe. Mary, and Mrs Mohock discuss ways they could convince Mr Mohock to change Ns mind Exhibit Day Exhibit Day is the time of the year when stu- dents have a chance to show all their aca- demic and artistic abilities. The gym has a large display of the work done in shop and art classes The grade school classrooms are decorated with a large display of their art pro- jects and classroom work completed through- out the year. Awards Banquet This year the Pep Club and the High School Activity Organizations put on a banquet to honor all the members of high school who participated in any kind of activity throughout the year Anyone m Mu- sic. both vocal and instrumental. Volleyball. Foot- ball. Basketball. Track. Golf. One Act Play, and Speech Contest received certificates and letters for their acheivements Honor Rom students, those with perfect attendance, and those people on An- nual Staff were recognized Senior Sneak Day On May 8, 1981, the senior class took their sneak trip. They boarded a bus at 5 a.m. for Omaha. The tour included Of- fut Air Force Base, Henry Doorly Zoo, Union Pacific Museum, and the Old Market where they ate at Spaghetti Works. The class also spent a few hours shopping at Westroads and saw a show at Six West Cinema After a fun, but tiring day, the class arrived back in Wausa. The Lundbergs and Wambergs accompanied them on their trip. 71 Graduation 1981 The Wausa High School Commencement Exercises were held in the W.H. Johnson Gymnasium on Sun- day, May 17. 1981. The commencement address was given by Bryce Neidig. The class was presented by the superintendent, Mr Rodgers. Milton Ober presented the Seniors with their diplomas. Scholar- ship awards and honors were presented by Mr. Wamberg with Mr. Fejfar assisting. Karen Finn was chosen as valedictorian and Craig Smith was cho- sen as salutatorian. The All-Around Girl Award was presented to Vicki Wamberg. The All-Around Boy Award was presented to Craig Smith. This year the Seniors chose as their motto; “Not Finished, Just Begun, the class flower was a red rose and the class colors were dusty rose and ivory. 72 Dedication We the Senior Class of 1981 would like to put forth a dedication to two fine gentlemen that have been on our staff. Last fall we welcomed Mr. Robert Rogers to Wausa High as our new superintendent. We would like to thank Mr Rogers for a wonderful year and hope that he will enjoy his future years here at Wausa. Our second dedication goes to Lyle Beaudette. Last spring Lyle passed away suddenly in his home. We not only lost a good janitor, but a great guy. 74 Our days at WHS Have been the best.
