seniors CLASS OFFICERS President--Gary Gunderson Vice President--Debra Wachter Secretary--Karen Gustafson Treasurer--Tim Nelson Flower--Blue Tinted Carnation Colors--Blue and Silver Motto--”In ourselves the future lies Wausa High School was invaded in 1971 by thirty frantic Freshman. Among the in- vaders were Cindy Albrecht, Kevin Anderson, Leigh Anderson, Steve Anderson, Gene Barnes, Becky Beaudette, Sylvia Becker, Mary Bruner, Vicki Cunningham, Lisa Daw- son, Kim Erickson, Nancy Erickson, Robert Folck, Rick Gatzemeyer, Theresa Greeno, Gary Gunderson, Karen Gustafson, Brenda Johnson, Wayne Kauth, Mark Kirby, Marlene Lind, Susan Muller, Beth Nelson, Tim Nelson, Sharon Puntney, Ruth Ritchey, David Rosberg, Pat Thierolf, and Debra Wachter. Class officers elected were: President, Leigh Anderson; Vice President, Vicki Cun- ningham; Secretary, Tim Nelson; Treasurer, Pat Thierolf. The Student Council members were: Susan Muller, Mary Ann Landholm, Mark Kirby, Gary Gunderson. Beth Nelson was Freshman cheerleader. Freshman homecoming attendants were Beth Nelson and Tim Nelson. Our class sponsor was Mr. Story. During the year Wayne Kauth left us and Bruce McLeod and Carol Carlson joined. Thirty-one sophomores returned to Wausa High. Class officers were: President, Leigh Anderson; Vice President, Kim Erickson; Secretary, Lisa Dawson; Treasurer, Tim Anderson, and Gary Gunderson. Miss Arent and Mr. Leapley were the class sponsors. Beth Nelson was cheerleader. Mary Bruner and Gary Gunderson were homecoming attendants. Thirty-two juniors entered high school in the fall of 1973. Carol McQuay has now joined us. Class officers for this year are: President, Nancy Erickson; Vice President, Mary Bruner; Secretary, Karen Gustafson, Treasurer, Tim Nelson. The Student Coun- cil members were Carol McQuay, Vicki Cunningham, Gary Gunderson, and Kim Erickson. Cheerleaders were Mary Bruner and Karen Gustafson. Junior attendants were Mary Bruner and Gene Barnes. Class sponsors were Mrs. Kuhlman and Mr. Ankeny. On December 4, 1973, the juniors presented their class play, The Green Light which was directed by Mr. Story. The juniors honored the seniors at a banquet on May 3, 1974. The theme was Time In a Bottle. Music was presented by the Rainbow Bridge. In the fall of 1974 32 seniors came to Wausa High for their last year. Nancy Erickson left and Charles Kleinschmit has now joined our class. Officers for our last year were: Gary Gunderson, President; Debra Wachter, Vice President; Karen Gustafson, Secre- tary; Tim Nelson, Treasurer. The Student Council members were Pat Thierolf, Theresa Greeno, Kim Erickson, and Gene Barnes. Senior cheerleaders were Mary Bruner and Karen Gustafson. Class sponsors were Mr. Johnson and Mr. Wamberg. The seniors presented the homecoming theme Nights in White Satin. Queen and King were Mary Bruner and Tim Nelson with Karen Gustafson and Gary Gunderson as their attendants. Senior pictures were taken by Corrigan Studio in Yankton. The senior class Play, Moutain Gal, was directed by Mr. Lundberg in March. The seniors were guests of the juniors at a banquet on May 2, 1975. Baccalaureate was held on May 11 with Commencement Exercises on May 14, 1975 to end four unforgettable years.
