In school we learn about Shakespeare, verbs and nouns, polynomials, Napoleon, and Congress. We learn to partici- pate in extracurricular activi- ties and to work with others. School teaches us to be respon- sible citizens and to be pre- pared for the adult world ahead of us. Whether we go to college or get a job, attend trade school or enroll in business school, we will appreciate what high school has taught us. CLASS PROPHECY The other day I brushed the dust off my old school annual and decided to find out what my ex-classmates of 1966 were doing now. First I boarded a plane for New York, where I discovered several of my old classmates. Don was a famous artist and had many of his pictures displayed in art galleries, while Ginger headed a large beauty salon assisted by Verle and Pat. Deciding to see a football game, I rushed to a near-by high school stadium where I noticed that the two rival coaches were Gerry and Rol. Also watching the game were Judy and Betty, high school teachers, and Charlotte, Carol, and Janet, local elementary teachers. When it was time to leave for Baltimore I boarded a plane piloted by Mike. On the plane I met Dan and Doug, the largest cattle feeders in the Midwest. They told me that Gary and Brian had jointly become the nation's largest producers of electronic products and that Eliot, assisted by Ron and LaVerne, owned a large machine shop. Roger M., they said, had designed the very plane in which I was seated, and Philip had become a popular sports announcer. Becoming bored with my long plane trip I turned on my portable radio. The voice was that of Senator Roger Nelson. Next came the cattle report given by Rick, a famous auctioneer. When the sports came on I heard that Duane had broken the mile record and was going to the Olympics. Finally the plane landed in Baltimore. There I attended a concert where Orin sang. He told me that Linda had become the first woman mayor of Baltimore. Darwin was a jockey who rode the famous horses, and Monty headed the Beatnicks Union. Tim sang folk songs on the Swing Ding Show with an old girl friend. Several of my classmates -- Barb K., Barb M., Nadine, and Joyce -- had entered the business world. Joan had become a famous legal secretary. Walking out of the concert hall I glanced upward and saw Jack, Larry, Keith, and Terry doing their usual great job of sky writing. As I watched them the words slowly came into focus and I read Class of 66. CLASS WILL I, Patricia Acklie, will my place in front of the mirror to Donna Jensen.
