In the fall of 1959, thirty-two shy freshmen entered Wausa High School to begin the most memorable years of their lives. The class role included: Karen Anderson, Judy Bargstadt, Karolyn Bartlett, Terry Beaudette, Carol Bengston, Jean Bryant, Gary Carlson, Larry Carlson. Richard Carlson, Shirley Claussen, Thomas Ekdahl, Glenda Erickson, Lois Fuelberth, Kathleen Gillilan, James Halleen, LaVonne Hansen, Dale Jacob, Marcia Jahn, Stanly Jensen, Eugene Langemeier, Diane Lind- quist, Corlynn Nyman, Connie Olson, Dale Olson, Mar- garet Peters, Gaylen Peterson, Cheryl Plog, Sheryl Shal- ander, Mary Ann Smith, Karen Swanson, Larry Wilbeck, and Allen Ziegenbein. Mary Ann Smith, Secretary; Sheryl Shalander, President; Connie Olson, Treasurer; Glenda Erick- son, Vice-President. Freshman class officers were President, Larry Wilbeck; Vice-President, Cheryl Plog; Secretary, Glenda Erickson; Treasurer, James Halleen. Carol Bengston, Sheryl Shalander, Larry Carlson and Gary Carlson served on the Student Council. Our class sponsor was Miss Arent. Kathleen Gillilan was elected cheerleader. Cheryl Plog and James Halleen were freshman Homecoming Attendants. Thirty-one sophomores returned for their second year at Wausa High. Allen Ziegenbein left before the term began; Marcia Jahn left during the year, leaving our class with a total of thirty members. Class officers: President, Sheryl Shalander; Vice-President, Stanly Jensen; Secretary, Corlynn Nyman; Treasurer, Shirley Claussen. Student Council members: Connie Olson, Lois Fuelberth, James Halleen and Larry Wilbeck. Mr. Ortman was our class sponsor. Connie Olson was chosen cheerleader. Connie Olson and Larry Carlson were sophomore Homecoming Attendants. In August 1961, the junior class consisted of thirty members. Class officers elected were President, James Hal- leen; Vice-President, Lois Fuelberth; Secretary, Kathleen Gillilan; Treasurer, Connie Olson. Members elected to the Student Council were Corlynn Nyman, Shirley Claussen, Larry Carlson and Stanly Jensen. Serving as class sponsors were Mrs. Rosen and Mr. Lundeen. Kathleen Gillilan and Connie Olson were selected as cheerleaders. The Junior Class play, Finders Creepers, was presented on November 3, 1961, directed by Mr. Christiansen. The class rings came on January 15, 1961. On May 4, 1962, the Juniors honored the Seniors with the Junior-Senior Banquet. The theme was Roman Holiday. Sheryl Shalander and Eugene Langemeier were chosen as Homecoming Attendants. Thirty hopeful seniors returned for their final year at W.H.S. A year filled with a feeling of sentimentality and a forward look to the future. The class officers elected were; President, Sheryl Shalander; Vice-President, Glenda Erickson; Secretary, Mary Ann Smith; Treasurer, Connie Olson. Our class was represented by Kathleen Gillilan, Corlynn Nyman, Eugene Langemeier and Larry Carlson on the Student Council. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Edmunds were our class sponsors. Kathleen Gillilan and Connie Olson served as cheerleaders. The senior pictures were taken on October 16, 1962, by Genelli Studios of Sioux City, Iowa. The Seniors presented their class play, Spooks and Spasms, on February 15, 1963, with Mr. Klopp directing. Sheryl Shalander and Larry Carlson were crowned Queen and King at Homecoming ceremonies on February 22, 1963. On the night of May 3 the juniors gave a banquet in honor of the seniors.
