CLASS HISTORY Thirty-three newcomers began their high school careers on September 3, 1956. These four great years filled with hard work and fun. have proved unmatched in their lives. The freshman class included: Bruce Anderson, Dennis Anderson, Gary Anderson, Lonnie Anderson, Rolan Anderson, Shirlene Banks, LaVonda Beaudette, Velda Bruder. Anne Butler, Linda Ekdahl. Conrad Erickson, Adrian Frevert, Gary Halleen, LeRoy Hansen, Larry Johnson, Geraldine Johnson. Glenda Juracek, David Landell, Josephine Larson, Richard Larson, Merlin Lindahl, Mark Matt- son, Marjorie Olson, Keith Olson, John Ragland, Earleen Schoonover. Karen Smith, David Stenberg, Robert L. Swanson, Roger D. Swanson, Lyle Weynrich, Douglas Wilbeck, Warren Wilbeck. Class officers were President, Rolan Anderson: Vice President. Roger Swanson; Secretary, Josephine Larson; Treasurer, Adrian Frevert. Student Council members were Velda Bruder, Anne Butler, Dennis Anderson, and Gary Halleen. Homecoming attendants were Shirlene Banks and Rolan Anderson. Velda Bruder served as cheerleader. Miss Arent was the class sponsor. On September 2, 1957, thirty-one sophomores once again entered Wausa High. Karen Bauerly later joined the class. Class officers were President, Velda Bruder; Vice President, David Stenberg; Secretary, Shirlene Banks; Treasurer, Gary Anderson. Student Council members included Karen Smith, Marjorie Olson, Dennis Anderson and Rolan Anderson. Homecoming attend- ants were Velda Bruder and Gary Halleen. Representing our class as cheerleader was Velda Bruder. The class sponsor was Mr. Homer. On September 1, 1958, thirty-four jun- iors enrolled for another year at Wausa High. New class members were Marvin Brasch and Norman Olson. Class officers were Presi- dent, Dennis Anderson; Vice President, Gary Anderson; Secretary, Linda Ekdahl; and Treas- urer, David Stenberg. Student council mem- bers included Shirlene Banks, Josephine Lar- son, Merlin Lindahl, and Rolan Anderson. Homecoming attendants were Josephine Lar- son and Bruce Anderson. Karen Smith and Velda Bruder served as cheerleaders. The class sponsors were Mrs. Rosen and Mr. Ko- rab. The Junior class play, Grandpa Goes to College, was held on November 7, 1958 with Miss Stoltenberg as director. The class rings were received on February 14. On May 1 the Juniors honored the Senior Class with the annual Junior-Senior Banquet. The theme of the banquet was May Symphony. On August 31, 1959, thirty-two seniors began their last wonderful year at Wausa High. Class officers were President, David Stenberg; Vice President, Gary Halleen; Secretary, Anne Butler; and Treasurer, Gary Anderson. Student Council members were Karen Smith, Josephine Larson, Bruce Anderson, and Larry Johnson. Shirlene Banks and Karen were elected as cheerleaders. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Korab served as class sponsors. Senior pictures were taken dn October 12. The Senior Class play, Shy Guy, was presented on December 4 with Mr. Ortman as director. Homecoming attendants were Shirlene Banks. Karen Smith, Rolan Anderson, and Dennis Anderson. Rolan Anderson and Shirlene Banks were chosen King and Queen. On May 6 the Juniors presented the Seniors with the annual Junior-Senior Banquet. Baccalaureate was held on May 15 and Commencement was held on May 18. I find that nonsense at times is refreshing. GARY ANDERSON - Band, 1-2-3-4; Basket- ball, 2; Basketball Student Manager, 3-4; Class Treasurer, 2-4; Class Vice President, 3; Banquet Waiter, 2; County Government Day, 3; Grandpa Goes to College, Crew, 3; Shy Guy, Crew, 4; Annual Staff, 4; District Music Contest, 1-2-3-4. Don't let that look of sophistication fool you, this guy has a sense of humor. LONNIE ANDERSON - Dramatics, 1; Football, 3-4, Letter, 4; Basketball, 1-2-3-4; Track, 2-3-4.
