Enough sard Re 8 Senior Class Histor It IS 1953 the year of prom1se for many of us sen1ors a sad tlme for others because we smcerely regret leavlng the hallowed halls of our dear alma mater The hlstory of the Senlor Class 1S a serles of remembered yester days happy todays and doubtful tomorrows We look back over the years and see a group of sxx year old ch1ldren eager to enter the school bu1ld1ng but fearful of los1ng thetr freedom Now we want to postpone that freedom because It means farewell to all our fr1ends of hmgh school years We remember the year the 6th grade Irvlng class was horr1f1ed at the ldea of enterlng Hlllcrest and the I-I1llb1ll1es all but qult school we were agaln unlted but It wasn't so bad th1s txme because we were all on unfam1l1ar stomplng grounds thus we were drawn closer The 8th grade year was chmaxed w1th the graduat1on 1n whlch Chloe Flowers was valed1ctor1an and Barbara Reynolds was salutator1an The flrst three years of h1gh school passed qulckly and then the pro spect ofthe sen1or year loomed before s We who have pondered the past and contemplated the present have now begun to speculate upon the future What wmll tomorrow br1ng P Who knows 'P We do not but we thlnk we know the sp1r1t of our leaders for tomorrow l1es 1n the dreams ofto day s youth and those dreams are based on yesterday's learmng Th1s year has been one of great dreams for us and for many other Amer1can youths We are ready for the future for wh1ch we have been preparmg through the years Janxce Andrews 9 v :O because they had to go with those Irving Kids. Q V Valedictorian Chloe Dave Flowers Chloe has been a member ofthe Na- tional Honor Society for four yearsg however she has not spent all of her time studying. ln her senior year she was voted All-Round Girl by her classmates. ln her sophomore year the teachers awarded her a medal for being All-Round Girl. Winning soloists have been grateful to Chloe for accompaning them, and she has given her own recitals for three years. When she was a fresh- man Chloe won a First at the Band Festival. In her sophomore year she won a First and a medal. She has been school accompanist during her high school days.
