ECHOES OF THE PAST . . . just a century ago the north ward of Wau- pun bought from Seymour Wilcox the land on which our school stands. Below is the early grade and high school built on this site. In 1872 the south ward built a grade and high school, pictured left. The bell from its old tower stands on our present campus--a link with the past. Eventually the old north ward school burned. The south ward school was en- larged to become a high school for the whole city. Then, swelling enrollments forced the erection of a new high school in 1911. This, the core of our present building, had three later additions. , , Q C J gig! We, seniors of '62, say farewell to the halls and classrooms of this building as we bring down the curtain on its half- Century of use as a senior high school. Here We spent sad hours and glad hours . . .we toiled over books and paper air- planes. And We are the last seniors to Walk its halls, to shout at its pep rallies, to dance at its prom, to sink a basket in its gym. But just as we will go forth toward new horizons, this building will take on a new usefulness as the junior high. The big games may not be played here, but the halls will still ring with youthful shouts and laughter.
