B The Warriors had one of the best seasons in a long time when they broke even in 16 games. We ended up in a tie for 5th place in the conference. The Warriors were termed as a 'dangerous quintet' as we heat Prairie du Sac and Spring Green when they were tied for lst place and then we upset co-champion Sauk City in the tournament. We lost the next night to the other co-champ, Prairie du Sac. Fred Friedrich was high scorer for the year with 191 points. He was also captain and most valuable player. The team's choice of the most valuable football player of the 1948 season was Dave 'Tick' Miller, the galloping ghost of Waunakee. Miller's typical touchdown was made by back- tracking about 10 yards aiter receiving the ball, get everyone worried, feven himselfl then squirm out from underneath three or four players and trot over for a T.
