Our faithful bus drivers who must put in many long hours trans- porting students to and from school form a vital part of our school staff. A familiar sight around WHS is our custodians, Wallace Rekward and Egbert Ewing, who are always busy keeping our school in tiptop shape. Two of our cooks, Mrs. Duvel and Mrs. Zimmer- man, are preparing another of their hearty meals Ms. Rolf' la ' t for a hungry student body. I S ls D nmng an appe lzmg and nourishing meal for the next day. H Looking over college materials are our class officers: President, Ed Lenthg Vice-President, Gaylen Fruechte, Secretary-Treasurer, Shirley Brandsmeierg and Student Council Representa- tive Richard Gray. Sharon Roderick and Ed Lenth, our Valedictorian and Salutatorian, also received citizenship awards. IOR The Senior Class can be proud of the fine record they have made in their four years at WHS. They have displayed their leadership in school spirit, studies, speech, music, sports, magazine sales, and FFA Sweetheart voting. The records and standards they have set will be hard to equal in years to come. This group rank in the top 15 per cent of their class. They were honored at a Kiwanis' Honor Ban- quet, received pins on HonorDay, and wore gold cords for graduation The students were Ed Lenth, Leon- ard Hanson, Kenny Kiesau, Roger Vonderohe, Ronnie Mauss, Barbara Wenig, Dennis Shogren, Norma Herman, Karla Buntrock, Sheryl Melcher, Linda Klees, Carol Poesch, Susan Stock, SharonRo- derick, Lynne Eaton, and Marilyn Opfer. .TAM ES ALLISON CAROL ANDERSON KAREN BEC HT EL ROGER BEC HT EL ii. 1' GERALD ANDERSON ROGER AS LES ON RONALD ASLESON DELORES BEARDMORE .TAMES BOLAND SHIRLEY BRANDSMEIER JAMES BULM AN KARLA BUNTROCK IAM ES BIEBER GALE BISPING MARY BURRETT GARY BURSETH RAYMOND BUSNESS GORDON CAMPBELL ELAINE EADIE LYNNE EAT ON RICHARD COOPER GARY DECKER JANICE DEHNING INGRID DIXEN LE ROY FISH MID-TERM GRADUATE GAYLEN FRUECHTE DENNIS GELO DIANE GILS ON GORDON ELLINGSON DALE FISH War' 4-H-- '6 '93 I SHARON G LENN RICHARD GRAY din, DIANE GROT EG UT LEON ARD HANSON ,AV M ARG ARET HERM AN G ARY I-IERM EIER LY LE HANS ON CAROL HARRIS LEONETTE HASTINGS DOROT HY HERM AN 4 WILMA IEIDE JOSEPH JENKINS SHARON JOHNSON IUDITH JUVIK NORMA HERM AN BERN ADETTE HOWE DENNIS KIESAU KENNETH KIES AU LINDA KLEES LINDA KLOCKE -'QQ LINUS LIDDLE EARL MC CORMICK WAYNE KN UDTSON CAROL KRUG ER CLARK LARSON EDWARD LENTH DEAN MEINERS SHERYL MEICHER DAVID MEYER GERALD MEYER RONALD M AUSS JOHN MEIERKORD SHARON MILLER RUTH ANN MOEN GRETTA MOHWINKLE EILENE MOODY BERN ELL PA LAS NORM AN PET ERS ON CHARLES MURPHY CHARLES NOLTING MARILYN OPFER ROBERT OPFER MQW, Q,-1 'M-M-'f 'f 'ff SHARON ROD ERICK .TAN ET ROFFM AN LINDA ROFFMAN CLET US ROSE CAROL POESCH SANDRA RISSMAN CAROL RUCKDASCHEL RUTH SCHORG LINDA SCHRUPP LAVONNE SCHULTE CUR'f'IS SNITKER CLETUS SOMMER LORNA SCHULTE DENNIS SHOGREN G ERALD SIVESIND ST EVEN SMIT H ANNGELA TEFF CAROLYN THOMSON BERNICE VAN HORN ROGER VONDEROHE SHELDON SPORES SUS AN STOCK BARBARA WENIG VICTORIA WERDEN CHERYL WHITE MELODYE WILLFORD JOHN WIEDNER NANCY WIN KIE HARLAN YOHE JANET ZIMMERMAN NOT PICT URED: CARROLL BEALL MICHAEL CONNELLY ROBERT FOSSUM MID-TERM GRADUATE Thls requues an exp1anat1onY Gee' T an some of that' hat pollcernan h1t hardi A two? 26 Sm11e' You are on canchd camera! They received a division II rating in the Class A high school competition at E the State Contest held in Charles City on October 14--a good record in itself. Included in the 65 members of the band were a number of freshmen and sophomores who should provide excellent material for coming years. The band is always on hand to entertain the spectators with its snappy drills during halftime at the home football games. 56 Above: Our alert drum section keeps the band in near perfect rhythm with its distinct cadences. The Saxophone Quartet was awarded, for the fourth con- secutive year, a I rating. The members were Ed Lenth, Lyle Hanson, Sandra Busness. Getting ready for contest was a big task for these small groups. Although the ratio ofl and II ratings was not as high as other years, school spirit was just as high and the participants gained just as much from this experience. A Division II rating was given to the Trumpet Quartet: Bernhard Hermanson Patty Reher, Jo Ann Lier, and Linus Liddle. Those soloists receiving I and II ratings were: Patty Reher, David And- erson, Patty Gronna, Barry Kolsrud, Barry Silbaugh, and Lyle Hanson. Linda Deal, Kenneth Richardson, Michael Deters, and David Deters made up the Trombone Quartet which received a Die vision Il rating. I The Saxophone Trio earned a Division Irating. Members were Lyle Hanson, Ed Lenth, and Carol Monroe. MIXED CHORUS The members of the Mixed Chorus, under the direction of Mrs. Bissell, had a profitable year. Appearances made by the group were: the Christmas Concert, Orientation Day, and the Art Exhibit. After practicing many long hours the group went on to Independence to compete with other schools in Class A competition where they earned a Division I rating. The Cardinals, after singing songs for the Christmas Concert, began work on contest numbers. A Division I rating was their reward for long hours of work. CARDINALS 60 BOYS' GLEE CLUB The boy's glee club practiced long, hard hours under their able director, Mrs. Bissell. They received a well-deserved Division I rating at the State Large Group Vocal Contest at Independence, Class A. In addition, the boys sang at the annual Christmas Concert. Where the heck is Bird-in-Hand? The story of PLAIN AND FANCY is more plain than fancy, as it should be. It concerns a young New Yorker and his sophisticated girl friend who drive down into the Amish country to sell a piece of property he has inherited but has never seen. In this neighborhood of Bird-in-Hand they find themselves out of their metropolitan world, in a land of quaint customs, Stern morals and Pennsylvania Dutch English.
