W7 1 W 1 A sv 'LfQt 33 '-...,,....,.a-- Freshman Class This 13 truly a year whlch will be long remembered by the group of boys and glrls in the Freshman Class A the bell rang th t first day, twenty three Freshmen walk 2 ed into the study hall By the time Freshman Initiation came we were ready for anything and we got lt On that dey you could tell a Freshman glrl a mile away for the aroma of chewlng f tobacco seemed to follow us The girls wore burlap sacks one hlgh heeled shoe end one foot bare with a brlck tied to it We carried a plug of chewing tobacco around our necks end wore a glove on our right hand e had our HMA us he could have fllled a bottle The boys wore dresses buckets of sand, and were swell decorated with lipstlck The dav after the inltiation we knew that we were full fledged members of Neukomis Pigh In October we had our flrst class party We went to Enid in the back of Mr Payes's truck After attend ing the Chief theater we went to Mrs Robins' home for e lunch We came back to Waukomls a tired but happy group of kids The Freshman Class made a good showing in sports thls year Three of our class members were on the base ball team, including Merle Schulz Jack Schulz,and Rich ard Felber Girls on the softball team were Wanda Braw ley Norma Dean stutz, Nanda Root, Marllyn Hayes,Beverly , Taylor, and Kathryn Glass The basketball season started with the Freshman Class agaln maklng a good showing Two of our boys have been on the team, Jackie Anderson and Paul steffey Norma Dean stutz, wanda Brawley, wanda Root and Marilyn Hayes have been members of the girls ba ketbell s,uad thls year Our Freshman chapel was elven 13 January The pro gram included a one sct play, several solos, and some group songs, lncludlng our class song which we introduced to the student body at that tlne The names of Freshman ppeared on the honor roll contlnuously thr u I out the year lso, the Fine Arts contest found us ell represented The May Queen Atten dents from the Fre hman Class were Kathryn Glass and 'M Merle Sc hulz he have had a wonderful year in hlgh school, and are looklng forward to the next three years, knowlng - that they will be gust as enjoyable.
