QSIIIMWW 5 - '--- NWQHEEHHE WHHHEQEHQ 'l' 1 1 fy 4 wif NQWKQ' Ir ,155-, 'f'-' '- A,-.4.4. .Hit UWWHWK QEQEQHQQQ .591 egg, I A t 1 -f...,,,,Mmm W .... . , ..,, .. 9 ..,,..,. ...... 4 W HQFV Q BOYS BASKETBALL --Bill Snodgrass Our basketball season was fairly unsucessful as far as the scores were concerned because we came out on the short end or the score on aO of our 28 games played this season Though all were hard fought and some breathtakingly close we lost This did not bother us however because we had alread learned a valuable secret 1n basketball We learned that it takes a lot better sport to lose than to wln and there was never a better loser in the world Wauk omis has alwavs maintained the respect of other schools because of her snortsmanship cn the ball court and the team thls year has done a wonderful cb in upholding that record Throughout all the season better teamwork was never displayed by any team ln the conference o hard feelings C 'Grand Stardn playe s we e witnes ed the whole season So with the ability to win or lose and still smile,with outstanding teamship our season was beyond a doubt a very successful one Several boys had a seemingly permanent position as 'Bench warm ersn but they fully realized the neces itv of this position and re maimed loyal throughout the season When a substitution was necess ary everyone could rest assured that the 7Subs' could carrv on The second string didn't participate in very many games but when they did everyrne could see the necessity of a B team and without the E7 points chalked up by the 'Subs alone the season might rot have Leen each tea Gene good very so successful Since every player has done an outstanding job let us review one personally Robert Semrad was one of the Guards on the A and did a grand job Robert talleyed 95 points for the team Traynor the other guard on the first five has also displayed ball playing and he totaled up B6 points Don Robinson was a dependable forward for the first string and acquired the honor of high point man for the entire season with 197 points Ernie Hromas was the other forward for the team and he rad a total of 127 points to his credit Gibby Rainey the big tall center did a swell job and ran up 54 points Joe Zelnicek was the center or the B team and was rlgh point nan for the HSubs' with Sb points Bill Snodgrass was forward for the B's and with a total of l points for the season Raymond Traynor also played forward or the B's and had 17 points Bobby Roades w s the 3rd forward with a sur of 7 oints for the year Yilfred Herrian vas guard with 6 pcirts and Melvin Markes as guard with 1 points Though some did not play as much as the others and did not rake as many points, they were just as im portant as the otlers and when the final whistle Dlgw we had 665 poirts against the op onents 819 Looking back over the v ar we see anv interesting incidents which mill llve as a lifelong memory The tri,s on the school storv in themselves and the Seniors will su ely miss a l these in 6 wears to me becau tres we P r that thi s J 15 basketball to bf claved with Vaukomis but with the ability of the underclassmen stlll remaining we are confident trew will k ep the 'Banrers Of Walkomis Iaving High N oqgiaggh-qp l, O. ,J-v '3552--' O aff' X 'Hi Qu 1555 522551555-ffigasgiiifsi .
