Home Economics Homemakingl That's an occupation? Nowadays, how- ever, many girls make it a lifetime task. Today in our home economics courses, we do not just learn how to make toast in the oven. bake bananas, or baste a seam. In cooking courses, we learn to prepare delicious dinners. In advanced sewing classes, we learn the art of making a suit for Easter or a dress for that special date. As we progress in the course of study, we learn home planning and the correct way of selecting correct color combinations for home decorating, Seniors are offered a course in marriage preparation and child care which will help them when they get married. Sontag Oshkosh State, B.Ed. 26 1 Industrial Arts Any boy planning a career as a skilled craftsman, laborer, or just plain do- it-yourself handiman finds great satisfaction in learning to be neat and accurate in whatever he does. Pete also wished to ac- complish something worthwhile with his own hands. When he looked into the in- dustrial arts field, he found that he had a large choice of courses: woodworking, drafting, welding, pattern making, and machine shop. Which choice should he make? He asked Prudy, but she wasn't much help to him in making this decision. Besides, she didnlt understand why girls couldn't take any of these courses. Finally, Pete decided that whichever course he chose, it wouldn't matter as longas he did his best in it.
