MQ ,, SMILES ARE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN after report cards come out. How- ever, Ciel Hiem and Joanne Habhegger seem happy about their grades. GRAND CENTRAL STATION? No, it's the lobby of our own senior building after school, as students wait for the school buses. 11 February While students battled the elements plus their studies, workmen were busy trying to complete the new field house. The urge to take a peek at their progress, overcame many anxious WHSers as Feb- ruary wore on and completion time drew near. All were trying to visualize the magnificent structure capable of seating three thousand. February l4th, the Blackshirts welcomed a power- ful foe, Whitefish Bay, to play the first game in the new field house. March Blustering winds and muddy terrain-that was March. However, the dismal weather failed to dampen the spirits of sport enthusiasts. Students had visions of tournament games whirling around in their heads throughout class discussions, tests, and study hall periods. This spirit also seemed to infect the faculty who managed to suppress impatience until the last of the games had passed and excitement had died down. ln spite of the distracting power of basketball, WHS's talented musicians presented a very delightful and humorous operetta, Naughty Marietta. Months of preparation by the a cappella choir and the cast culminated in a beautiful performance. The musical was the first program given in the new auditorium.
